Conn Iggulden has a new book "Stormbird" to be released on Oct 2013.

I enjoyed his series on Julius Ceasar and loved his series on the Khan dynasty. It will be very interesting to see how he interprets and treats the characters. As a Richard III sympathizer, I am really hoping he is kind to him. Looking forward to this new series. If you've never read Iggulden before, what are you waiting for?!!

Phillipa Langley is also planning a movie that portrays Richard III in a good light.

Oh, I enjoyed his Khan books as well (although I've only read two) - thank you!

I'm also looking forward to reading this, but I don't think it's scheduled to release in the US yet.

It is on my list!  I really liked his Khan books as well.  I am interested to see how he interprets this subject, SKP's Sunne in Splendour, for me is the standard I judge all books about this period by.   Poor guy  has his work cut out for him. wink

I agree, but if anyone can come close it might be Iggulden.

Does anyone know what is going on with this release?  It says Oct 10, but Amazon has no price up, so I am assuming that the release has been pushed back.

Thanks Genie, My friend was wondering and I said I'd ask.  She is going to Ireland and said she'd buy it there.  I gave her my little list too. God Bless her!

The Book Depository isn't selling certain authors books to US customers, in my case it's  SPK's re-issue of Sunne in Splendour, and also Imogen Robertson's The Paris WInter. I keep getting notifications about them not yet being in stock, and asking if I want to stay on the waiting list.  Since Amazons take over at the Book Depository this is becoming the norm, I am a bit put out about this development.

ITA that BD has gone downhill lately. I recently discovered play.com, but i havent made a purchase yet. Stormbird is a couple bucks cheaper and it looks like it has Sunne in Splendour. I didnt check the other title.

You know, I've been disappointed with Book Depository lately too, but thought it was just ME. Now I understand and I agree with you Letty - very put out!

Just an update to affirm our disappointment in BD. I still havent received Stormbird, and I get an error when searching the order status at the web site.

I'd bet $$$$ there's some bait and switch going on to avoid the free shipping. Same thing with EC's new book. Amazon UK will show in stock and ready to purchase, but BE shows unavailable. Yet people outside the US could see the book as available on BD.

I sent a note to customer service. The reply doesn't instill confidence. They shipped it, they said. Why don't I check with the post office? Excuse me, but checking with the PO is how I know I didn't receive it. And since when does a customer-friendly service but the burden on the customer? I can't see Amazon responding like this.

Has your card been charged? If so, you could dispute the charge.

I haven't seen a charge yet, and CS did agree to re-ship. So, we'll see. I'll let you all know what happens as I understand a number of people here do (or want to) order from BD.

How is this book? Like so many others, I loved "Sunne in Splendor," and I love histoirical fiction from this time period.

But the war of the roses and all the players' relationships has always been hard for me to get my head around. I posted here some time back asking about an easy outline or readers guide or graphic showing who's who :) that might help my simple mind untangle things.....It seems whenever I read one of these I spend more time doing research to see who's what.
