Oone of my favorite non fiction books. Origo a great diarist and you see WWII from the perspective of normal people. It gave me a new perspective on how Italy joined WWII and the politics behind it. And she shares so many mundane elements of living in warzone (and, you learn, functionally an occupied country). I highly recommend it.
