I have never had a problem with amazon free books.

Sometimes the price changes and some sites now seem to list the ones that are free if you are a prime member, but I am not a prime member.  The order button on those always lists the price, so it is really clear.

I have not had to return a book, but several people have posted that it is very easy to return a book you mistakenly bought if you do it fairly soon.

Tha Amazon Prime books are rentals and are free only to members.  If you buy one by mistake, contact Amazon to get it returned.  They have been pretty good about it.

Several I checked were $.99  3 were not ebooks they were PBs for $7.99   2 eBooks were $9.99!   AND Amazon dosent send out your orders for every ebook any more they send the List in 1 email at Midnite!  So check prices Before you click!

So check prices Before you click!

Always good advice.

I always check summary, size and price before clicking.

I've purchased duplicats without realizing it, one from one book store and another from Amazon, but haven't had any problems with the freebies at all.

Sometimes by the time you see the blog post or get the email with the freebies, they're not free anymore.  Always gotta check the price before you buy, even if it's supposed to be free.

And some of the sites direct you to the main page, rather than the Kindle page.   Amazon does have a policy that many of the freebies are for only 24 hours.

I check the site at Midnite every nite!   So no they were not 24 hrs old.

The site may have just listed them, but that doesn't mean the offers aren't old.

You don't even have to contact Amazon if you accidentally buy a book that wasn't free like you thought. There's a button on the book in the Manage Your Kindle section for returning a book.  I don't know how long it stays there but you can tell right away if  the book wasn't free afterall.  I have yet to accidentally buy one that I thought was free but wasn't because it's always been pretty obvious to me if it was free or not.  But I have accidentally hit Buy when I meant to put it on my WL and I just returned them.

Like Mary said, if you notice right away, you don't even have to contact Amazon.

Just go to the Manage Your Kindle Page in Your Account. Look for the book and in the right hand side you'll see a button with 'actions'. Hover over that with your mouse and menu will show up. One of the options should be 'Return for Refund'.

I bought a book yesterday and the option is still available. I *think* you can return a book for up to 7 days after purchase but let me check if that's true.

ETA: I just checked and you should be able to return a book within 7 days of purchase.

I tend to use the other websites to find the free Kindle books. But, I always check the summary, size & price first as proces change. The three times that I accidentally clicked on and bought an eBook that I didn't realize I was buying, I had no problem when I contacted Amazon about a refund. One was even beyond thier 30 day return policy. I explained what had happened, how I click through from other sites, and hadn't looked at the price carefully. They simply refunded me. No problem.

I use my Kindle for PC app. There is no 'Return for Refund' button on the app. So I have had to email CS each time. It really wasn't a big deal.
