Regina Hartwell was a cocaine queen and a rich lesbian princess. She fell hard for gorgeous 18-year-old Kim LeBlanc. Kim fell hard for the drugs and Regina's expensive gifts. Justin Thomas, Kim's drug-dealing lover, was 6'4" and buff. Inside, he was pure killer. Kim LeBlanc was the prize that drove them both crazy with love, jealousy and desire. But the former cheerleader was also a darkly disturbed addict who helped cover up Regina's murder. Gripping, hard to put down.

I am not usually a fan of true crime, but this particular book caught my attention. It has all the great elements of a fascinating story... sex, drugs, money, obsession. It is really a great story and worth reading.

The individuals in this book read like lost souls. The victim is a young lesbian who tries to buy acceptance and love; her desired girlfriend is a user who tries to fill herself up with material things to feel good; and the murderer is a drug-dealing thug who hangs around the fringes of society also using people to look better and more socially acceptable. While they don't sound very sympathetic the author does open up their lives enough to give readers an understanding of why they behaved as they did. The writing is very choppy. You get a feeling of frenetic and meaningless activity, confusion and addled brains from drugs, and most of all 'Wasted' money and time - thus the title. I didn't find the actual crime very gripping but it appears the facts are mainly there. Just didn't get into the writing style. But the book is interesting enough for me to rate it average.

Excellent book...it's amazing how little a life is worth in some people's eyes... regina was such a sad tormented soul with money and kim played into that and really took advantage of her generosity....but in the end who are really the losers.
