I AM NOT COMPLAINING, BUT-------------I see that Water Bound is going down pretty fast on the WL.  Is it not as good as the Drake Sisters, or just not keepable??   I am going to be getting it soon as I am #5 and 10 went last week, but was just wondering how good it was.  I really like Christine Feehan and get her books no matter what series (Carpathian, Leopard, Ghostwalker, etc).  Just wondering about this new series.

I'm curious about that myself. Is it new, or a spin-off?

It's a spin-off of the Drake Sisters (Sisters of the Heart #1).  It features Ilya Prakenskii's brother from Elle's story.

I've always loved Christine Feehans books.   I will keep on buying her books.  BUT  Water Bound was a little hard to get thru.  Too much  yakety yak and not enough action.  I'm looking forward to Dark Slayer and  Dark Peril.   Sure hope they are better.

I read it yesterday and found some similiarities yet some differences in Feehan's writing style on this one. It's tied loosely into the Drake sisters but more tightly into the Sea Haven community. Rikki, the famale lead, is a strong, quirky very likeable woman who has many eccentricities due to autism and a history those she cares about dying in house fires. But she's highly functioning, very independent, and gutsy.  Lev Prakenskii is the dangerous, brooding hero with violent, cloudy past  who re-discovers his humanity as he falls in love with Rikki. Their interactions were funny and heartwarming.

The book was an enjoyable read, although probably not a keeper (few are).  The weak parts to me were that it was a bit long-winded with some extremely detailed and repetetive descriptions/explanations. And the only interaction with the Drake sisters' characters were towards the very end and not exactly the ones I would have expected to play a role, especially considering Lev's past. (All but one couple was conveniently out of of town for the WEEKS it took the storyline to unfold.)

Feehan seems to be starting a new series, with Rikki being one of 6 "sisters of the heart" who have bonded together although not blood realations.  Each woman has a tragic past, some extraordinary powers/skills, and they live together on a sprawling farm outside Sea Haven (each with her own house).

By the way, the storyline is closely connected to Hidden Currents (part about the yacht - bad guys, bodyguard, yacht sinking). I wish I had had that book to read over some parts before starting this one. If you do, might want to refresh.

I was hoping there would be a general interaction because of Ilya.  Would like to get some news about the future of the Drakes.   The book is on the way to me and should get here any day!

Me, too!  Feehan definitely left the door open for it as an issue to be addressed as a sideline in a future book.

** SMALL SPOILER **

There's supposedly a reckoning to come because Lev's undercover role prevented him from stopping the abuse of Elle, the baby of the family, in Hidden Currents.  But since all but Hannah and Jonas (the Sheriff) are conveniently out of town for this entire story, that couldn't happen. Jonas got HIS shot in, but Lev has yet to "make it right" with the rest of the Drake clan, including his brother, Ilya Prakenski, and Elle's husband, Jackson.

Then again, since there are more Prakenskii brothers out there somewhere and 5 new sisters to match, up maybe we'll see more of the Pareknskiis in the future.

I just finished this book and was so looking forward to finally reading it.  I was somewhat disappointed and have to say that I skipped over paragraphs/parts of paragraphs, and I don't remember ever really doing that with any of her Drake sisters books.  I did find the books storyline  interesting and know that it is the first book in a new series with a tie-in to the other series so I will be looking forward to the others in the series.  I don't think I was really wanting/missing more information with previous characters because I understand their stories are over, but I feel that this book was missing something and I can't put my fingers on it.  I keep all my Feehan books so I will be keeping this one, but I won't say that it is my favorite one, cause it is far from it...................  *just my 2 cents for what its worth

I am maybe 3/4 of the way through this book and I have no particular criticisms, I am enjoying it just as much as I have the other Feehan books I have read. I have not read the Drake Sisters books yet, so maybe that makes a difference. When I finish the Dark series those will be next.  I found something tho, that needs to be fixed but I don't know how to go about it. There are 2 listings for the book and one of them, http://www.paperbackswap.com/Water-Bound-Drake-Christine-Feehan/book/0349400083/ lists it as "Drake Sisters Book 8" which it is not, it is no. 1 of a new series. As mentioned above it ties in with the Drake Sisters books but if someone requested this book thinking it would continue that series they would probably be quite disappointed. How does one go about reported a mis-represented title?

I enjoyed the book.  I don't find it a keeper, but I rarely find a romance novel to be a keeper.  The only ones I have kept are Catherine Anderson's Kendrick/Coulter Family series.  Some day I'm going to read them all again, but this time in order.

One thing I really liked about Water Bound was the "less than perfect" heroine.  It was quite refreshing.
