I have a book that the previous owner glued in a "This book belongs to" sticker.

Along the edges of the sticker (it's more like a book plate, it's a 4" x 2" rectangle)  there is some rippling of the paper it's on.

The book plate/sticker is on a text-less page.

Does the rippling along the edges of the sticker translate to water damage?

If I removed the page (it's the 1st page, textless) would it be postable?

The book was printed in 1980, and is in otherwise pristine condition.

Thoughts?

Bookplates are allowed as long as they do not cover the text.

Thanks, Emily.

My concern is that the rippling around the edge of the book plate will be somehow construed as water damage.

But taking them off often leads to a sticky mess.  I'd rather a bookplate or library sticker than gummy stuff.

I don't think it does. If it looks like the gluing of the book plate is what has caused the rippling I would go ahead and post it, I wouldn't consider it liquid damage at all.

I'd leave the page in and post it.

Melissa- if you leave it in then the person getting it will KNOW it the book plate causing it and not water :)
