I have a book that has a big spot of coffee from the page edges to about 1" into the book. Is there anything that can make it better or will I be better off just leaving it alone?

Leave it alone! If you moisten it any more (in order to remove the stain) you will only add to the damage. You can always offer it as an "unpostable" with a request of another book from your bookshelf.

A stain that large will be hard to get out without damaging the book further.   But for very small spots, or small stains just on the edge of the book, you could try a Clorox bleach pen.  Those have a very fine point on one end, and a wider brush on the other.  You c use the fine point to bleach out the spot without significantly wetting the book.  The result will probably not be exactly the same color as the page, but it's better than coffee.   I've used it for small fruit stains, to good effect.

Regardless of what you try to do, the book is stained and therefore unpostable here.

Thanks everyone!

Maybe for this book, I won't do anything, since it is that large.

I can't imagine any dry way to remove the coffee, thereby adding it more liquid damage to the book. Sounds like an unpostable for the BB to me :)
