I have a couple books I'm wanting to add to my WL that aren't in the system yet. One comes out at a later date and the other just came out earlier this month, but neither are in the system yet. Is there a way or place I can add them into the system, or do I just keep checking back to see if/when they've been added?

Thank you :)

If you can find the ISBN of the book, just enter that into the search box.  The system should then find the book and create the record for you.  It doesn't always work but I've certainly done that before.  You've got a much better chance of it working if the book is in Amazon's database, that's usually where I go to find ISBNs.

As soon as the book comes up, you can WL it and be #1.

Depending on if the books you are looking for are fiction - you can go to  -

and look up new, recently released , and forthcoming books tosee what all is coming and they will have the ISBN's.  I do this and go to Amazon to check it out as well.  Sometimes fantastic fiction only has the HC's but Amazon will have the paperback ISBN's, too!  It varies.  It's a good way to get titles, ISBN's, etc.

When you find the isbn number enter it into the isbn space on the advanced search page. I have wishlisted a lot of good books this way. And I was very excited to be number one!

If you have the ISBN and the book is in the Amazon.com system, searching for the ISBN in the keyword search here would add it to the PBS system.  If the ISBN is not on amazon, then you'd have to use a workaround method.

Yes, when you search for the ISBN here in advanced search, even if you don't find the book, it triggers the system to go out and get that info next time it does a database update.  So search once, and if you don't find it, search again the next day.  (Not sure how often the database is updated.)

I have found that this only works with U.S. ISBNs. There's a book listed on the FantasticFiction website that I keep looking for. The UK publisher has listed the ISBN that they will use and you can find the book at Amazon.co.uk, but FF doesn't have a US ISBN listed and Amazon.Com doesn't have the book either.

The author is American, and she says on her website that the book is going to be published here around the same time it's published in the UK and Germany. So, I just wait patiently and check about once a month or so to see if there's a US number yet.

Cathy, it wouldn't hurt to wishlist the British ISBN as well.  You never know, a world traveler might post the book to you... :)

Britney -- I would, but you cannot wish list the British ISBN for a book that isn't already in the database. When you enter the ISBN in the advanced search, it seems to me that it only searches for US books and adds those records to the DB. Try it with 978-0752898476 and you'll see what I mean.

If you enter this ISBN on the post books screen, then you get a blank screen and you can add the book to the DB that way. Except then it's on your shelf and you have to delete it quick before anyone requests it.
