This is an excellent book! If you are interested in understanding Qi Gong or just trying to live a more healtier life, the contents provide a lot of very good information. It is not a light, fast reading book, nor is there any fluff. You don't need to be a martial arts student/master or even highly active/mobile to benefit from the information and practices described within the text. The illustrations and tables included in the text are clear and summarize the information in a great format for reference later on. The contents include several areas such as breathing, meditation, specific exercises, diet, benefits of tea, emotions, self massage, and so much more. The book is well documented with notes, a glossary of terms, and a great bibliography.
I've been taking instruction of Tai Chi and Qi Gong from a master for several years. My master lists this book as required reading in his internal martial arts degree program. Now that I've read it through, it has become a cherished reference manual for furthering my own martial arts practise and to help me improve my overall health. For what it's worth, my opinion is that it should easily be considered a modern "classic".
