Yesterday I got a request for a book on my shelf.  When I went to package it, I realized it has very minor water damage and a crease on the cover.  I don't know why I listed it (obviously I wasn't paying enough attention the first time), but I don't think it meets the criteria, so I clicked "cannot send this book" and explained.  I did not take it off my bookshelf, because I don't mind receiving books like that, as long as I can still read them, so I thought maybe the requestor would send me a message back saying they wanted it anyway.  I was planning to take it off my shelf today or tomorrow.

I just received another request for the same book.  I can't tell if it's the same person requesting it or not.  Is there a way to tell?  Or is there a way to send the requestor a message asking?  Or should I just click "cannot mail this book" again and remove it from my shelf?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

You should click Cannot Mail and remove it from your bookshelf.  Unpostable books should not be traded through formal PBS transactions.  YOu can offer them in the book bazaar but unless the book has a long WL line or is rarely posted, it's unlikely anyone will pay a credit for a book they can't repost.  Asking them to take it anyway  kind of puts them in an awkward position. Especially if it's a WL book.

There's no way to tell who the requestor is without accepting the request.  The previous transaction might be in your Transaction Archive depending on how far the request went before it was cancelled.

You should click "cannot mail this book" and remove it from your shelf.  If it has water damage (even if the requestor is ok with it), you should NOT do the transaction through the system.  You can list it in the Bazaar and have them buddy you the credit.  If you do it via the system, you still risk getting a RWAP.

Edited to add:

Since you marked it "cannot mail" the first time, it should have been removed from your tower.  You would have had to relist it (and lost your place in the FIFO line).  If that's the case, then there doesn't seem to be very many copies in the system (meaning you can probably get the full credit for it in the Bazaar).  Good luck.

I didn't ask the requestor to take it anyway.  I just thought maybe they would want it anyway, and would say so. I didn't mention at all in my message that I hoped they would.

When I marked it "cannot mail" I got a message saying the book would be returned to my shelf in the same spot in the FIFO.  So I did not relist it, it was done automatically.

I'm fine with marking it "cannot mail" again and removing it from my shelf, but I think it may be the same person requesting it again, and they may really want it.  I will put it in the book bazaar, if I can figure out how to do that.

Thanks!

Well, that's interesting!  I just clicked "cannot mail" and explained the damage.  I said I would try to list the book in the Book Bazaar.  This time, though, the book WAS removed from my bookshelf.  I went to do it myself, and it's not there, so I guess it was removed.  I wonder why it wasn't removed yesterday?

Anyway, off to figure out the Book Bazaar, lol.

Okay, so yesterday is the first time I'd heard of the Book Bazaar, and I just listed my unpostable book there.  I also looked around a bit.  Wow, I like the bazaar!  Think I may hang out there a little and see what I can find, lol.  :)

Did hte first request have a Requestor's Condition?  If you turned an RC down then it goes back on  your bookshelf. Cannot Mail For Other Reasons is supposed to remove it from your bookshelf.

Unless we now get a 1 time "not now" option on our bookshelves too.
