I posted a brand new WL'd book into the system this morning.  The person requesting the book had a looooooooooong RC with explanations & justifications for them. All fine, my book is new.  I accepted, but noticed that the book does have a remainder mark on the bottom of it (1" long sharpie pen mark). I know that this is completely acceptable per PBS, but wanted to re-read this laundry list of requests in case she/he won't accept remainder marks.  :(

My question is...How in the heck do I see that RC again? I've looked everywhere! I finally PM'd the requestor & specifically asked about the remainder mark, but thought I'd ask here in case I'm missing something obvious. Thanks in advance............

Edited to add: Update & copy of the RC in my post at 7:26pm 10/03/09
And to fix a previously missed typo :-|

Click on the details button next to the book?  I am not 100% sure - I never had to go back and look!   I just looked at a old book w/RC - I can bring it up on the details page.  So  I assume you can view the RC again by clicking on the details button next to the book in question.

Jubead, until I mark it "mailed" (which I don't want to do 'til I'm sure they don't have a proscription about remainder marks) I won't have a "details" button, but thanks for responding  :)  Darn it, I wish I'd printed the RC out....

Why don't you just PM the requestor and ask her to send them to you?

Oh, I did Cozette, but while I was waiting to hear (or in case they didn't respond) I thought I'd put the question to this board - you guys seem to know everything :P

You can't see the RCs between accepting and the completion of the transaction when it will move to your TA. You'll have to wait for her to PM back.

Can't you go to the credit registry and see the details from there?

Emily - Nope! I guess nothing will register there 'til I get credit for the book :(   Good thinking , though.

Melanie - I think you're right. Sigh. It just seems counter-intuitive that it would be impossible to double check requestor conditions before mailing.

Thanks everyone who responded.  Maybe I'll contact TPTB & suggest that they provide a way to view RC's throughout the requesting process.  I'm guessing there may not be too many times when it would be necessary, but when you do need to it would be nice to be able to do so.

Ah.  You can view items going in the other direction from the credit registry.  To check if your RC was on and which mailing address.  Just knew that items appear there before the transaction archive.

Emily, you still can't view them that way until the transaction is complete. Between acceptance and completion, there is no way to view RCs. Books being mailed out do not appear in your credit registry until you get the credit.

The only possibility might be if you've used PBS DC or Postage, then it might appear, but I know it doesn't on a transaction that doesn't have either of those. See if the one you are finding it on is one where you used PBS DC or Postage.

I only use DC and RCs are available for reviewing. Another great benefit of using DC.

??? How weird, I use PBS-DC and I have never seen an RC show on an active transaction, where do you see it?

UPDATE:

The guy was super nice & luckily still wanted the book.

TT - I always use PBS DC & usually PBS postage as well (as I did on this transaction).  Couldn't view it anywhere unil I mailed the book & marked it mailed.  It now shows in my credit registry (thanks Emily, I wouldn't have thought to look there), though not in the transaction archive because it hasn't been completed.

Just for kicks I did look again at the RC and this is what it said (actually a bit humorous & nicely requested, though just as long as I thought):

Requestor Conditions

I hate having conditions, but due to some disappointing packages, I've had to make a ginormous list.  (Blah! I know... ;P)

Please make sure books meet PBS guidelines:  correct ISBN (different cover image is okay),  no water or liquid damage, no tears on the cover over 1 inch and no stains please (a little dirt scuff's okay, but if you can't identify it and it looks scary... I'll pass), no highlighting unless it's a textbook, etc.

I prefer to not receive books that are CURRENTLY in a smoking home.  If you're not sure if it came from one or not before you, that's okay!  I'm willing to accept those, since if you can't tell, it's probably not bad.  [I used to love my smoky treats, but now that I stopped--mostly... there's the occasional slip up now and again ;P--the 2nd-hand smell bugs me something awful. :( ]

I don't mind books coming from a home with pets, as long as the books don't smell like pet urine... I can't believe I have to add this, but I've gotten a book that reeked of cat pee, so now I want to make sure I don't have to deal with that problem again.  I mean really... gross!  I keep my pets potty trained and really appreciate getting books from other members who do as well. (I'm sorry if I may have activated your gag reflex there... but at least this part wasn't in smell-o-vision ;-D)

Audio CDs must be in working condition with only LIGHT scratches at the maximum.  I don't want to worry about the CD not playing something or skipping due to a deep scratch.

If you're not sure, please just accept the request and send me a PM first.

Thank you Leslie. Seems kind of odd that the RCs follow the credit activity and not just the general transaction, but thats good info to have.

I've suggested before that they make it so RCS show while the transaction is pending.  I had several requests all at once recently.  One of htem had an RC and for the life of me after I accepted them all I couldn't remember which one it was.  Since it was just a non-smoking one it was no biggy. But I was thinking gee-if this was another type of RC (like no dust jacket) or something and I had multple hard covers going out (or whatever)-I'd be stuck unless I was smart enough to write it down.

Mary L, ... what I do is, if I accept a book with a RC on it, and I'm not mailing for a while, I just add a PBS note to the book. That way, I can still see it as I'm mailing the book out.

Eh? Really? I must be really super special. Then again, it's quite possible that I may just think it's possible. I have been known to be wrong from time to time. ;)

I could have sworn....(off to second guess myself)

Laura - if you just read past that post, you'll find that Leslie tells us how you get it to show up in your credit registry. You weren't imagining things. I don't know that I've ever looked after I marked it mailed, what would be the point? I couldn't do anything about it then.
