I was eager to read this book because I loved Cornick's other books, but this one just pushed things to far. The heroine is very hard to like and consistently makes truly awful decisions. I could never understand why the hero put up with her. For those of you who loved The Earl's Prize (the book about this heroine's brother) be warned - this is not a good sequel!

Juliana is very hard to like. The author tries to bring out a vulnerable side to her, etc but you don't really start to like her till you are over half way through the book. I enjoyed the other books in the Tallant series but had a hard time with this one. However I have liked some of the secondary character romances going on throughout the series. I was glad to see Edward Ashwick again and the introduction to Martin's siblings.
