Another enjoyable read, not quite as good as The Bride, but a close 2nd. I love her quirky funny heroines, and Highlander alpha males!

In THE WEDDING, Julie Garwood returns to medieval Scotland, the setting of her classic romance The Bride, to gift readers with an utterly delightful, charming and heart-warming adventure of passion and intrigue with that special Julie Garwood touch of humor and the magic of love.

The day his father dies, Highland laird Connor MacAlister vows to see their enemy, the MacNare, in Hell.

At the age of five, Lady Brenna decides to choose a husband for herself and she picks Connor MacAlister, the warrior who lifts her out of the dirt and smiles into her grimy face. She proposes three times and many years later Connor comes to claim her as his bride and use her as a pawn in his revenge against MacNare.

When she is surrounded by fierce, painted Highlanders, Brenna shows no fear, but in truth she has almost forgotten her childhood infatuation with Connor and is resigned to a marriage planned by her father to MacNare.

Once Brenna realizes Connor means to make her his wife, the fragile, yet feisty Brenna takes charge. She endears herself to his clansmen, and with her guileless, yet courageous nature, wins everyone's respect and love, except that of Connor's stepmother.

Connor and Brenna build a powerful and sensual relationship, and eventually love grows between them, but the hatred of the past arises when a rival sets out to destroy the MacAlisters and a traitor in their midst catches Brenna in a web of danger.

I give this book 5 stars because it has all the things I personally read romance books for: enjoyable characters, humour, and a great love story. This is a book that made me laugh out loud and then made my heart ache for the heroine. I have re-read this book several times and think it is a fantastic rainy day read.

Unlike her other books, this book did not draw me in from the beginning. However it's a good read. Honor's Splendor is still my favorite though.

This book was an excellant read. Julie nevers fails to touch my emotions with her writing. I laugh, cry, get angry, feel the characters pain. I get one of her books and can not put it down until I have read all of it. I liked this book so much that I read it two times in a row.

A lot of fun to read. I love how clever Brenna was and how she knew when to back down when it came to Connor. We also get cameos from Alec and Jamie from the first book.

Great light read.

Lady Brenna MacAlister harbored no illusions that her husband, a quick tempered laird, was in love with her. Marrying Connor MacAlister had been an impulsive act for Brenna. But MacAlister and his warriors, a savage-looking band who had captured her and her party en route to her arranged marriage to another, offered precious few alternaatives. Now after a hasty forest wedding, they were man and wife. Brenna was determined to be happy and Connor lived for the moment she would say, "I Love You". But when a rival laird struck out at the MacAlisters, trapping Brenna in a web of dangerous intrigue, she knew that only her faith in her gallant mate could save her....

Julie Garwood is a very good Author, I really enjoy reading her books.
"Julie Garwood attracts readers like beautiful heroines attract dashing heroes"
Lady Brenna MacAlister harbored no illusions that her husband, a quick-tempered highland laird, was in love with her. How could he be enamored of his bride when, on their wedding day, he had assured her that she could retrun to her home in England as soon as she had given him a son?
Marrying Connor MacAlister had been an impulsive act for Brenna. But MacAlister and his warriors, a savage-looking band who had captured her and her party en route to her arranged marriage to another, offered precious few alternatives. Nor could Brenna deny that in fact she had proposed to MacAlister-evenif that had been ten long years ago, when she was just a child, and Connor a visitor to her father's castle. Actually, Brenna scarcely remembered the secret missives she'd snt to MacAlister, abetted by her mischievous older sister..yet she had never forgotten the tall visitor's dazzling, unexpected smile.

Cute story. i love how the big, tough warriors in these stories turn out to be lovestruck.

A great addition to your library.

This book was painful to read. I had to keep reminding myself that the characters were adults not adolescents. At the end of the book I still didnt know or understand what the feud was all about. The hero, Connor was believable for those days. I was able to relate to his point of view. But Lady Brenna . She was an embarrassment. She was supposed to be so smart but I had to keep reminding myself how old she was. How boring.

The story had a decent plot with the villain (Rein) I thought there would have been some good and tense confrontation between Connor, the stepmother and Rein to give substance to the feud. Nothing So boring
