I got a request today with an RC that said something like this:

"I like to recycle book packaging, so make sure the plastic you use to wrap the book in doesn't get taped to the envelope you use."

HUH????!!!!  Aren't RCs about the condition of the BOOK??

I declined it.

I would not appreciate being told how to wrap a book. Beyone being asked to wrap in plastic.  I will do that even though I don't normally wrap in plastic.

I like to recycle too and prefer my books to come in reuseable bubble mailers.  But I don't ask people to do that.

Well, I always accept easy RCs, and that one is real easy since I don't tape plactic to the book packaging anyway.

I try to accept RC's if I can, I wrap in plastic and I recycle.  But there's something about the tone of that RC that irks me.

I don't use plastic inside the wrapper that I wrap books in - usually use a bubble envelope, so does that mean that if I accepted this request I'd have to also wrap the book in plastic or risk an RWAP?  I'd have turned it down also. Pat

Pat, that's why I declined it.  I was given a box of plastic rolled-map mailers. These are about  3 feet long and made of VERY heavy plastic. I cut them down and ship my books in them.  So, if I send a perfectly good book in that, she could RWAP it, since I didn't meet her conditions.

She would probably RWAP the swap if tape does get stuck to the envelope. I also wonder if they try to reuse tape?

My new RC

I'm short of cash.  Please carefully prewrap my book with dollar bills (the higher denominations if possible).  Then wrap with heavy duty black plastic.  Thank you.

I use Saran Wrap and while I don't tape it to the package, I imagine it would be a pain in the a$$ to try and reuse, so I reckon she would have room to complain.  I'd've turned it down too.
