Is it weird to have someone contact you out of the blue (no previous transactions) and have them ask you about your wait list? I have checked the waitlist of people who have ordered books from me- becasue I might have something they want that I had not posted yet. Maybe I am being paranoid? |

Have I missed something? I don't know what you mean by a waitlist. Do you mean the wishlist? If so, what do you mean that they asked you about your wishlist? What exactly did they ask? |
Were they asking you if you wanted some books posted directly to your Wish List? You don't have any current transactions that they could be tied too? Did you check you Friends list to see if they were a Friend? If you were more active in the forums I'd say it wasn't that usual, some people will look at the Wish Lists of people they run into in the forums and see if they can offer books to them. They'd have to have found you through the forums or the member directory. If they are offering Wish List books, make sure to make them post them through the system so that they are kept to the rules of the site. If they are asking other questions, I'd use caution until you find out how they found you and what they are up to.

It was me she's talking about. The other day I saw she had 2 books on her WL that I own. At the time, I hadn't finished the books, but now that I am done with them, I sent her a PM today to offer to post them directly to her since I have the books-- same ISBN, title, etc.-- but I wanted to ask her first to make sure she had the credits for them & of course to make sure she would want them at the same time before posting them to her. I realize that sometimes people don't have enough credits. She posted here on the message board the other day asking something about posting WL books. I read a lot of the posts on here even if I don't respond but I do recall the post was about posting Wish Listed books which made me happen to look through her Wish List just to see if I had anything she wanted. Surprisingly I did so I offered to post them to her. I guess I can be kind of random at times, but it's not very often that I happen to see someone's WL with more than one book that I have. |

What a sweet thing to do, Amber! It looks like the OP is a relatively new member, so I don't fault her for being wary of a random contact. Soon, if she stays in the forums long enough, she'll recognize that as a RAOK (Random Act of Kindness). Deb

Amber is a stalker. I hope you got the misunderstanding straightened out. It was nice of you to offer her two WL books. |

haha yes, I am a stalker. Yes, I was just offering her a couple of WL books. I guess to a new member, they would be cautious! I probably would have thought someone was doing something wrong if it had happened to me when I first joined. |

I wish someone stalk my WL! Amber, you are a sweetheart. |

Hey! I want someone to stalk my WL too! I feel so left out. |
haha, maybe we need a club for stalking people's WLs then? Wish List Stalkers Unite!!!! |

Since you're a relatively new member of PBS, nhreader: Welcome to PBS! |

In case Diane doesn't come back, I'll ask Amber: Did she accept your book offer? |
Well, I haven't gotten a yes or no answer from her yet so I haven't posted the books to her but I do still have the books if she wants them!
~~ETA~~ So now if I see anyone else's WL that has books I own, then more people will get random stalkerish messages from me. Be forewarned, haha. Last Edited on: 5/7/12 8:58 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I wouldn't say it's weird. It might just be a person that is too shy to post in the forum, so they asked you personally. |

Thank Lisa ! |

I PM people all the time who post in the forums. sometimes it's to comment or ask about something in their siggy line ( like I'll let them know I like the quote they use) or ask a question about their locale (wow, I went thru your town back in 1978, yada, yada). sometimes it's to answer them regarding a personal problem they posted about and which I feel I shouldn't respond to publicly(I was a counselor til recently when I stopped working).
on the other hand, I see people post responses in the forums that should have been sent as PMs. Last Edited on: 5/8/12 9:25 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
