Paperbacks - As long as the paperback I've requested from you meets PBS guidelines, I'd love to have it!

This is my RC for paperback books. The person cancelled, because they aren't aware of what PBS book posting guidelines are. Why not check into them instead of canceling or just state it doesn't meet RC?!?  For all they know it isn't allowed to even be posted, and the poor next person in line will receive an unpostable.  I just find it very annoying! If they're going to use the site why not read the rules first!

That just re-enforces my belief that people - even those who like to read - don't read.  They are immune to directions of any kind and don't read the rules of this site.  Amazing!  Maybe there ought to be a quiz to be able to trade here!

Well, Leann, I agree, but at the same time, that's exactly why you have that RC. It did exactly what you wanted.

Some people just don't like RC's. I've even heard people say they take offense that someone would think they need to be reminded of such things and don't accept for that reason. Personally I wouldn't bother having an RC like that if I were you, if it doesn't meet pbs guidelines you can mark it received with problem. I think RC's are best used for specific things that are not in the guidelines and are otherwise postable.

The only thing I can think is that maybe it's a new member who doesn't know that PBS is an abbreviation for PaperbackSwap? Far-fetched, but it seems more likely than somebody being unaware of the posting guidelines (which you have to confirm each time you post a book!). Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part...

No need to be annoyed, the RC did exactly what it was supposed to, got denied by someone who hadn't read the rules. Hopefully the RC made them realize the rules existed and they promptly went off the read them.

I had to list this RC for paperbacks because my hardcover RC states that I'll only accept hardback books with the dust-jackets. Well people were declining my request for paperbacks, because they thought I meant I would only accept hardbacks ...period. Plus I was getting tons of unpostables and really hate wasting credits on books I won't be able to repost when I'm done. Especially with responses like "I didn't realize this wasn't allowed" or "I thought this was okay to swap this on a used book swapping site" when marking it RWAP. So it was just easier to use an RC for paperbacks as well.

I don't mind my RC's being declined...especially if the book doesn't meet my RC, I just found it annoying that someone wouldn't take the time to read the rules and regulations.

I find it frightening that someone wouldn't take the time to read the club rules, but it certainly happens.  At least this saved you the trouble of getting a book RWAP and fighting to get your credit back.
