This is a great book for parents of traditional school children to make sure they are learning what they should be in their school environment. As a home schooler, I didn't find this book as helpful as I hoped. It's definitely geared toward traditionally-schooled children and their families.

Note: There are some parts in the series that are definitely from an evolutionist point-of-view. This may or may not have an impact on your decision to use this book.

We homeschool and I got this book to make sure my daughter is on track. She just finished third grade and we are going through the book this summer to go over things she is a little weak on as well as things we missed or didn't discuss as much as we probably should have. It's organized nicely as far as topics and has a lot of information in it. I also got the 4th grade edition as well to help me plan for the upcoming school year.

Super book! It should be used as a supplemental book however.

It's been said before, but it is awfully Euro-centric. The geography focusses on the Mediterranean and the history on voyages of exploration. I still think I'd use it if I was homeschooling.
