I have seen a rule saying they are unpostable , but I don't know what they are.

I am probably the last to know, but will let my ignorance show here to find out.

Thanks for your help.

ARCs are Advance readers copies.. They are sent out to various places to gather interest in books so they will be bought.  They also have other names too but the intent is the same. Uncorrected Proof or Copy.

ARCs cannot be sold and are unproofed novels, so they have errors in them be it spelling, grammar or name changes. Some dont even have art work on the covers and others I have seen have "insert picutre here" instead of art work inside the book.

Mostly all will state that they are not for sale in the place where you normally find the book price and ISBN. Somewhere on the book it will state it is and Advance copy and usually the publishing date, this does not mean you can sell it after that date either.

Thank you Pam.

I do have a few of these. I didn't realize they were called ARC's. The one's I have say they are not to be sold in them.

I assume they can be distributed to others for free by posting them as unpostables. Is that correct ?

Sherry

Yes Sherry, you are correct.  You can offer them in the ARC thread if you wish...this is a great way to get rid of them.  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions...

A great way to get rid of them is to offer them free with an order from your bookshelf.

I also have a heap of these books because I get given them from work.

You can put them in your signature as well. Like I have some unpostables in mine.
