An ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) is an advance release of a book, usually sent to reviewers before the final copy of the book is published.

Should have posted this too just in case.............. ARCs cannot be Posted to a PBS Bookshelf for swapping, since the ARC cannot be depended upon to contain the same story/text as the published book.

Advance Reader's Copy. It is a publishing term to refer to the final rough draft of a book. Often has serious typos. These are sent out for review. And the publisher and author use them to check the typesetting and final edits. Sometimes has a paper cover; sometimes the planned cover art. But at this point there is really no further large editing changes, just the last check for typos. The book is past the point of being able to rewrite the ending. |
