I have alot of books that are brand new but were bought somewhere that puts a black mark on the pages to show that it was a reduced book. Most of them are from Barnes & Noble. Are these postable? I searched in the guidelines but couldn't find the info!

Thanks!

These are called "remainder" marks and are placed there so that you do not bring it back to exchange it for a full price. It is perfectly acceptable here. Same as any library  or bookcrossing markings found on the edges of the books.

Totally fine to post.  The black mark is a "remainder mark" and it just notes that it was sold at a reduced price.

Are the black marks on the inside of the book in the text? If so, they're not postable.  However, if the black marks are on the closed edges of the book, it is ok to post.

Thank you for the replies! They are all the remainder marks on the edge of the book so they are ok to post. I am fairly new here and don't want to get into trouble! <G>

along the same lines. Our local friends of the library group has an ongoing sale within the library and unfortunately, they mark their books FOL along the top of the book.  I wish they wouldn't do that - they have been making them smaller, but I would think that if they had to put something on there, then just an F would do. anyways.  Are these ok to post?

Kathy; you can still post those books as long as the marking is on the edges.
