I distinctly remember doing a book report on Prince Caspian in the fourth grade. What is the usual age for kids to read The Chronicles of Narnia?

My older son starting reading these books in 3rd grade, but he's a good reader. My second son, who is an average reader, will probably read them within the next year... he will be going into 4th grade. But I read one aloud to him already

Our school has a special reading contest for our 4th and 5th graders, and Prince Caspian was one of the books used a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I think I read them when I was about ten...I think most kids around eight or nine could probably start them, right?

Hmmm. I read them to my son when he was 4 or 5 and he read them himself last summer (just before 3rd). I don't recall reading them at school at all as a child.

I read them in early high school.  But we're talking about the late seventies, before all the recent brouhaha surrounding the books and movies.

I reread them each year until well into my thirties.
