So many books and so little time!

Please recommend what you would consider the "one" best book by your favorite authors.  Only ONE book per author (that can be a hard choice to make) but please list as many authors as you like.

Example - Jodi Picoult - MY SISTERS KEEPER.  Harlan Coben - TELL NO ONE.  Chris Bohjalian - MIDWIVES

What are your favorites?

I won't go so far as to single out one favorite author, but Toni Morrison's SONG OF SOLOMON is pretty damn astonishing, and I don't like any of her other books.
