The other thread about taking books of your bookshelf got me wondering what is the longest some people have waited to receive a book.  I have quite a few that don't seem to have any books in the system and I wonder how long I should wait around before just giving up and purchasing.   I'm not really in a hurry for most of them, so I don't mind waiting a year or so.  OTOH, there might be some books that will just never make it to PBS.

I realized after I hit the Send button that the title should read:   "What is the longest you've waited for a WL book?"

I haven't been here very long but I posted these 4 to my WL the very first day I was here 7/17/2009. I doubt if any will ever be listed. None have been listed since I have been here.

The Extraordinary T-shirt Quilt: A Scrapbook You Can Sleep Under :: Lauren Kingsland

Fabulous Tee Shirt Quilts :: Caryl Schuetz

How to Make a Too Cool T-shirt Quilt :: Andrea T. Funk

Terrific Tees: I Can't Believe It's a T-Shirt Quilt! :: Roberta DeLuz

I have a few books that have been on my wish list since November 2008.  Some are books that are out of print and I don't think I will ever get them and others have never been posted since I have put them on my list.  I will buy books that don't seem to move but at the same time if I don't really care when I get them I will wait.  Books that I buy are usually books that I want to read right now or books that I think will go on my keeper shelf.

I went to my wishlist to look, but it's not letting me sort.  Every time I hit the resort button I get an error message, no doubt due to my still having IE6.  Sigh...  I know I have some books that have been on my WL for three years--but then, I have a lot of obscure books on there.

The longest I've waited was about 3 1/2 years for a wishlisted book which I just got a few months ago. I currently have one that's been on my WL sinice 3/21/06. Otherwise they're all from 2007 or later.

Longest I let something stay on WL was probably 3-4 months. After that, I either remove it because I no longer have interest in it, or I just buy the darn thing.

Well,  September 1st, 2009 is the longest so far, because I am quite new!

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but when I went to look, I noticed I have 52 books on my wishlist, and on 16 of them, I am 1 of 1 requesting the book.  Hmmm.....  I wonder what that means.

Diane,

The 1 of 1 could mean that the book gets posted often so there isn't much of a waiting list and when there is there are only a small number of people wishing for the book.  Or it could mean you have authors on your list that no one else has discovered yet or you just have really weird reading tastes.  ;)

I put The Fortune Cookie Chronicles by Jennifer 8 Lee on my list when I first joined in June.  Also Chevy's Tex Mex Cookbook.  Still waiting...  I'll probably give up soon and buy them off of Amazon.  I have zero patience.

I've had this one on my WL since July 22, 2007 and I'm 4th on the list.

Callahan and Company: The Compleat Chronicles of the Crosstime Saloon :: Spider Robinson

Diane, I have many books on my WL where I'm 1 of 1 and most are because I do have weird taste in reading material. *g*

LOL, I was afraid of that!  On the other hand, if they published a book of something we like, must be there were at least a few other people who also liked it!  I don't mind waiting.

I have a couple from 2007.  One I could easily order off Amazon. I'm not sure why it's such a slow moving WL line. Because it's still in print and not super expensive.  I'm near the top now so I won't bother buying it, in fact I think I'm #1 now. That one is All Wrapped Up which is an erotic book and I can't remember the author.

The others from then are out of print and I may never get them. I  want them but not enough to pay the prices being asked on them.  It's actually my hope that they will be reissued under the same ISBN and start getting posted again.  This has actually happened to me a couple of times.  I had a few OOP Catherine Anderson books on my WL and when they reissued them they used the same ISBN and I did eventually get them.

I will probably never get The Windflower by Laura London or Wilfdfire by Cheyenne MccCray.  But they are there just incase.

The 1 of 1 just means you are the only wisher. Doesn't mean it never gets posted.  Just means at this time you are the only wisher.  I've had a lot of those too and have gotten many of them.

I have a few I've been waiting for since 2006. Don't really expect to ever get them...but hey, it might happen! I also have some really unique and expensive books listed as wishing for...and I am 1 of 1, so hope springs eternal!
