I'm trying to figure out which, if any, of the area blue boxes have the biggest opening and see some are noted as standard and others as snorkel? Are the standard the ones with the door, and the snorkel the ones with the slot on the raised arm portion?

That would be my guess Jodi.  Standard would be the regular curved top blue box with door that opens on top.  Snorkle may be the ones with drop slot in the extended arm....like for drive through?

Thanks Denise, that's how I was figuring it out tool The curved part with the drop slot as in the drive thru lane at the po must be the "snorkel" - and I suppose in an odd way, it does look like one.

That's funny, all of our "snorkel" type boxes do have a regular drop on the other side. I had to get out of the car and squeeze around to the back of the blue box at the P.O. drive-thru the other day because my pkg of 2 books was just a little bit too big to fit in the drive-thru slot. It was a little inconvenient because the other side of the box is against a chain link fence and the guy in the car behind me was a little bit annoyed. Next time I'm just going to use the one in the center of town where one side faces the street and the other side faces the side walk. At least there's plenty of room to get around that box if need be!

At least you still have a drive through, I have to go to the next town to find one.  All of the blue boxes have been removed from our small community, even the one outside our local PO branch.
