Recently I have found that I pretty much read nothing but series since I really like to get to know characters from one book to another.  I'm talking about series where the author carries the characters over, not a "series" where the only thing that makes it a series is that the books are on the same subject.  Since I really like series books, I am looking for new authors and new series.  Some of my favorites are:

The Drake Sisters - Christine Feehan
Virgin River - Robyn Carr
Kendrick/Coulter Family - Catherine Anderson
Troubleshooters - Suzanne Brockmann
Bodyguards & Black Ops - Cindy Gerard
Bayou Books - Stella Cameron
FBI Series - Catherine Coulter

So, what are your favorite series/authors?

for quick reads I like Suzanne Brockmann's Tall Dark and Dangerous books from silhouette

also been reading Marliss Melton's SEAL series though not sure if they're faves but I've enjoyed the ones I've read

I like G. A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston's dragons/shapeshifters(paranormal, funny, and HOT!)

Lucy Monroe's Mercenary trilogy and Goddard Series..mostly about one couple but others show up from book to book

Linda Howard's mackenzie series..see or hear about some of the others book to book but they're short silhouette t ype books so mostly about themain couple.I'm in love with Zane, Mara's hubby, and even Chance..sigh...

if you like Robyn Carr's virgin river series you may like Susan Wiggs' lakeshore series..I've only read the first but they're supposed to be related..didn't think there was much sex in the one I read but the storyline was pretty good.

I just read a related trilogy by Julie Garwood that was good - the secret, ransom, shadow music. some characters show up in the next book.

I love reading books in series!  Its almost as fun collecting them as it is to read them!

The Bridgertons-Julia Quinn

The Malorys-Johanna Lindsey

The Effingtons- Victoria Alexander

The Highland Series-Hannah Howell

Dark Series- Christine Feehan

Governess Series- Christina Dodd

The Wallflowers-Lisa Kleypas

I'm sure there are more that I haven't thought of :)

Kate - we have very similar taste in books!  The Troubleshooters series is my all-time favorite.
I love the Drake Sisters series, and the Ghostwalkers books by Feehan are great, too.

The T-FLAC series by Cherry Adair and the McCloud series by Shannon McKenna are terrific (hot!) romantic suspense.  Alison Kent's SG-5 series, too.  If you like paranormal, the Midnight series by Lara Adrian and the Immortals series by Kresley Cole.

Janet Chapman's Highlander series is good.  Some of them are great, some just ok, but she's always a dependable read for me.

I second Susanna's suggestion about Susan Wiggs and the Lakeshore series.  Definitely along the lines of Robyn Carr's books.

I could probably name a bunch more, but others will have good suggestions, too!

Madeline Hunter's Rothwell Brothers series and the Seducer series.   And the Prince series by Elizabeth Hoyt is really good, too.    I liked all the series by both of these authors.

My favorite contemporary series is Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Stars.  I like every single book in that one, but especially Match Me If You Can.

Nora Roberts' "The MacGregors" and "The Stanislaskis", "Cordina Royal Family"

Sabrina Jeffries "Heiresses" (Let Sleeping Rogues Lie, Wed Him Before You Bed Him - Ones I read) and "The Truth About Lord Stoneville" (which I'm waiting for the next book! :))

Jude Deveraux's "James River Series" (The Counterfeit Lady, The Lost Lady, and The River Lady)

John Jakes' "North and South"

I'll add more favorites of mine as I think of them! :)

Linda Lael Miller's "The Women of Primrose Creek" (Christy, Bridget and can't remember the third! But all three are wonderful!!!)

Most of these are "comfort" reads that I read over and over....

Brockmann-TTD

LaNora-Chesapeake Bay

Howard-Mackenzies'

Veryan-both Saniguent(spelling!) and Golden Cronicles

Putney-Silk trilogy

Kelly-Plymouth series-new one next month!

There are favorite authors that aren't on this list-like Balogh, Beverley +-because while I like the writing ,the series as a whole hasn't "worked" for me.

And there are others who I feel compelled to finish the series even though their writing has annoyed me for awhile!  Quinn, Laurens +

I think Jayne Ann Krentz's series I could get into as well since I loved her older stand-alones..but I don't know if other characters show up book to book in these.

I forgot about the Ghostwalker series.  I'm not sure if she is done with that one.  I hope not because I really like the books.

Jude Deveraux's "James River Series" (The Counterfeit Lady, The Lost Lady, and The River Lady)

I liked the first two in this series, but the third (River Lady) seemed to be a repeat of the first book...Marries wrong woman...right woman shows up....finds out he likes the wrong woman better.  I also thought that the heroine in River Lady was TSTL.

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

You really read all six books!  I recently had the opportunity to get all six for 4 credits and I thought the story sounded interesting.  I had no idea that the books were so big (averaging over 700 pages per book).  The whole package weighed 13 pounds when it was shipped.  Right now I'm kind of scared to start reading them.

The Conard County series by Rachel Lee is good although the last three books haven't been as good as the earlier books.

And most definitely the Mackenzie series by Linda Howard.

I've actually read all SEVEN books and some more than once.  If you are one of the ones who enjoy them (they seem to be love or hate) then the size doesn't even factor in.
