"What Fire Cannot Burn" is John Ridley's second book featuring Soledad O'Roark, a mutant-hunting Los Angeles police officer. The first book is entitled "Those Who Walk in Darkness."  Soledad isn't much for friendships, etc. so she doesn't get along too well with her fellow teammates. Especially those she feels she is competing with, namely Eddi Aoki.

Excerpted from back cover:
When a vigilante starts killing metanormals without mercy, Soledad and Eddi end up working the same case...in a way neither could imagine. And the hunt for answers pits Soledad and Eddi against a cabal inside the LAPD as well as a serial killer who's slaughtering mutants, cops, and anyone else who gets in his way.

I liked "Those Who Walk in Darkness" better than "What Fire Cannot Burn." But, both books are good and I'm glad I read them.

Has anyone else read this book...if so, what did you think about it?
