Hi there,

I thought we could talk about our paranormal books we are reading and if you recommend it. When I get good recommendations I push the book higher up my TBR.

Right now I am reading God Save the Queen by Kate. It is a paranormal, steampunk, alternate reality type book. Seems okay so far just started it last night. I like steampunk so it drew me to it..  God Save the Queen (The Immortal Empire) :: Kate Locke

So this month for Paranormal I read Blood Law by Karen Tabke - very good I put book 2 on my WL Blood Law (Blood Moon Rising, Bk 1) :: Karin Tabke

Restorer by Amanada Stevens- I know lots of folks love this book but it was just okay for me. I am not a big ghost fan. The Restorer [Graveyard Queen, Bk 1]  by Amanda Stevens

Charmfall - YA by Chloe Niell book 3. I love Chloe Nielll's Chicagoland Vampire series. This series is no where near as good. IMO

so what are you reading?

I just starting reading J. D. Tyler's paranormal series, the first one Primal Law and the second, Savage Awakening. Really good books. I was glad I found her.

I'm reading Kitty Steals the Show by Carrie Vaughn and have Thirteen by Kelley Armstrong waiting to be read next.  I'm a big fan of both these series!

I just read Kindling the Moon and Summoning the Night by Jenn Bennett (UF), and really liked them both. The plots are pretty solid, and the romance element is kind of gritty and realistic (not airy-fairy) but hot; plus the main character actually develops instead of going through the same sorts of dumb decisions over and over like some characters do.

I've just finished Ilona Andrews first 2 Edge books and I'm halfway through the third one. I've had the 2 on my tbr pile for a long time and just picked it up last week.  I don't know why I waited so long ! Loved them. I bought the third one at B&N cause I'm so far down on the wl.

Reading Once Burned by Jeannine Frost - started yesterday. About 50 pages in. Its good!  Reading Psy-Changling series by Singh as I get them. They are on by WL. Very good. Finished Samauri Game by Christine Feehan - not that great. I keep saying I am going to stop reading that series. Read Lawe's Breed by Lora Leigh this month also. Liked it. added may Breed novels to my WL.

I stopped reading Christine Feehan's books altogether. She repeated everything over and over and over. And the last Carpathian book? I couldn't even finish it. I used to love her books.

I started reading Kitty Steals the Show the other day got about 100 pages in and just couldn't read anymore. I just was too bored reading it I'm sure I'll pick it back up soon but I'm not sure I will be one I really like. I'm tired of roman and the long game that never goes anywhere.  Anyone else not like this as much as the last few?

Last night instead of continuing to read Kitty I started Blood of Innocence (Sloan Skye, BK 2) by Tami Dane and so far it’s a little better than the first one. Though both books have been about victims being drained of blood and I just looked at book three due out in December also says it’s about the victims being drained. In the first book it was victims with punctures on the neck, in this one it is a puncture wound on the groin area, and in the third it doesn’t say where only that someone is draining the blood out of local teens while they sleep.  Only in the first book were the victims not drained while they slept so it’s starting to look like we’re getting the same book with a small different twist.  I mean seriously it’s the PABU (Paranormal Behavioral Analysis Unit) is the only paranormal creature she knows about ones that drain blood?  I mean what about a mauling then she’d have zombies, werewolves, some creepy fairy, and many others.  I’d rather not read another one where she throws exsanguinationaround throughout the whole books so she sounds smarter.  Oh and did I mention every time she uses that word she explains it like those of us who are going to read her book haven’t already read it many times before. Though since this one is a little better than the last I’ll probably read the next just to see if its getting better, if it’s still annoying at parts I probably won’t read anymore after that.  I’m giving her leeway since it’s a newer series to work out the kinks.

Blood of Innocence is on my kindle and its loanable so if anyone wants to read it when I'm done with let me know.

I just started reading Thea Harrison and have found my new favorite author. I loved the first book in the Elders series. I also just recently read Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series. OMG it's amazing so far. I think the newest in the series just came out.  Can't  wait to read it.  Darynda Jones is a Goddess, her writing is amazing. If you all haven't read "First Grave On The Right" yet you are missing some serious awesome.

I have the last three Kitty books to read. I think I have been avoiding them because I am little tired of the series. I loved the first couple of books in the series though.

Elizabeth W. I loved Thea Harrison's books. I thought the first was excellent. For the Fae I do really like Karen Marie Moning's Fever World. one of my favorite all time series.

Another Fae series I like is by Jenna Black (YA) . First book is  Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker, Bk 1)  by Jenna Black. It is my second favorite Fae series

I love the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa.  It's probably my favorite YA series.

I finished God Save the Queen by Kate Locke. Definately got better as you got farther into the book. Will be interesting to see where she goes with the story line.

I just read the first of a series that sounds sort of similar to your book, Alice. This one is also a sort of steampunk-paranormal combo, The Affinity Bridge by George Mann. I listened to the audio version and quite enjoyed it. It involves an agent for the Queen, automatons, zombies and some weird twists involving the Queen herself.

I also just finished up the audio of Kevin Hearne's third Iron Druid Chronicles, Hammered. Can't recall who it was who said they didn't like this one as well as the first two, but I felt the same way...I found the side stories told by some of the members of the team as to why they wanted revenge on Thor to be a bit longish and overdone and they detracted from the actual story. Otherwise it was okay, and I am looking forward to the next one for sure.

I did not care for Hammered Cheryl.  I hear book 4 is better, Tricked.

I will check out the George Mann book

Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series was okay, though I haven't finished it yet, but Her new series is so much better The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, Bk 1)

Guess you are reinforcing my choices lately. Just finished Primal Law - J D Tyler this morning and really liked it. Can't wait for the next one. I had Biting Cold - Chloe Neill and The Vampire Empire - Clay and Susan Griffith come in at the library at the same time. Started Biting Cold right away. Finished Rebecca Zanetti - Fated and immediately put all the others on my wl. Loved it.
