The McCloud series is by Shannon McKenna and the boys are all HOT. It is like contemporary crime romance sex alpha male, etc. Kevin is the youngest McCloud brother that an evil scientist did away with years ago. He is twin to Sean. Each brother has a book. Kevin's disappearance has been a reoccurring theme throughout the brother's books and all the friend's books. They are all keepers for me.
Sean wandered into Davy's house. "Is my wife here?" he asked.
Davy scowled at him. "All the women are here." He led the way into the kitchen and pulled out a couple of beers, handing one to his brother.
"It's that damned book." In a falsetto he said, "Did you see the treatment on page 38? I think it's divine!" He snorted in disgust.
"Oh, c'mon, it's not that bad. At least, we know he's alive."
Davy gave him a "are you kidding me" look. "Yeah, he's alive but..."
"But part of you almost wishes he wasn't."
"Hey, you're not his twin! Suddenly, I'm remembering every time I tried to wear navy socks with black pants and now I know why I'd always shudder."
"Feeling a little light in the loafers, are you?"
Davy flipped him the finger. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."
"So what's the big deal? He's alive. After all this time, I thought that would make you happy. Not the gay part but his being alive."
"Are you saying Liv isn't asking you to paint anything at home now? Margot won't get off my back about it now. Let's paint this, let's change out the effing window treatments. We need to incorporate more colour now!"
Sean just laughed at him. "Oh it can't be that bad."
A chorus of feminine laughter came down the hall. Liv, Margot and Erin were all headed back to the kitchen.
"Honey, you're here!" Liv gave Sean an affectionate kiss. "Kevin's book is fabulous! I've just been talking with Margot and Erin and we agree that your den would be much better if it was done in aqua and chocolate brown."
His den? Aqua?? Sean looked wildly at Davy, who just smirked. The woman gathered some wine and headed out to look over Davy and Margot's master bedroom.
"Dude," Sean said to Davy, "there's only one decision to be made."
Davy nodded. "Call Connor. He should be here. Short straw gets the privilege of taking him out -- permanently this time." They clinked their beer bottles together and waited for their brother.
Thanks, gals, for a much-needed Monday morning pick-me-up!
Count me in the ones who can't wait to find out Kevin's story (assuming he hasn't been jet-setting around the world in talks for a new home makeover show on HGTV).
And Ani.......seriously, when is your book coming out? ;)
