I spent a good long time tagging all the books I'd read, so I wouldn't make the mistake of ordering them again.  Now the tags are gone.  I've gone back and read up on the tags, so I know that I was not using inappropriate tags.  They were for me personally.  Not all of my tags disappeared.  Only the ones I'd put on ALL the books I'd read.

I started going thru my BIR list about 35 minutes ago, re-tagging, and it's very frustrating because some of the books don't show up with the tag even after I've tried it 3 or 4 times.

Well now they are saying that they don't want you to use tags like that because it shows when it's on one of your lists.  So it's possible that some people have reported them as being inappropriate.  Although they are also saying that we shouldn't go crazy reporting every personal tag either. But it's possible that it's happened to some of yours.  Also you have to rate your BIR books now or it'll delete them from the list.  Have you done that yet?

Some people don't understand the difference between a personal tag and an inappropriate tag so we will probably just have to get used to them getting hit as inappropriate. I would recommend adding the books to your Books I've Read List because that will show up on the books. Unforunately they way they changed that list you need to rate books before you add them so it takes a little longer.

Try contact Richard, I know Cristy had the same problem and the PTB were able to give her back all her tags.

I can't be certain, but I think some of my tags have disappeared as well, and not the personal ones either.  I use tags a lot to label the series books (first in, second in, etc) and it seems like some of those are gone.  I've just quit tagging things, especially knowing that people can delete them.  Seems kind of pointless now.

I've stopped tagging now as well.  I think they should have just left if like it was.  The only time I paid any attention to a tag was when I saw a little red x there to indicate it was mine.

Yes, a lot of my tags are gone now and I too went to a lot of time & effort to put them into place.  I won't be using that feature any longer.

Maybe I'm being dense, but I'm still seeing my tags on the books that I've tagged. If they're on one of my lists, the tags show up there. If I look at the book description, there is a line with my personal tags up above the line with all applied tags.

If you look at the description page of a book, you'll see that it now shows the book's status on your account. There's a line that says On Your: and then it lists BIR, TBR, WL, Transaction Archive, etc. So if your book is on one of those lists on your account, you should see it on the book description page.

I guess I'm just getting rid of them all.  It's easier than trying to put 600 or so more back on.

Yes, the line with the staus and list that the books are on need to be where people look for information.  If they are taking off the tags that say what book it is in the series, then that's bad because that is information about all the books of that title (and author) and that's the kind of info that should be okay.  It certainly is info that I like to have!   As for the tags with the number spot I have in the WL - those areimproper and Len posted about it saying that it was too big a load on the system to keep all that for everybody.  I can understand that.  I don't want to slow down the PBS system  because of my personal tags (all the tags show).  So I print off a list of my WL books and keep track on that.  It takes longer, but it's info that I want!

I had suggested that they add the "notes" feature to our WL and our RL. I think just doing that would eliminate the bulk of the personal tag use.

I agree, Jane.  I'd love to see the notes feature accessible from the other lists.
