When it goes past the deline for a book to get to you? I have a book that is due by the 16th and it has yet to arrive... I suspect it is not going to.. what happens once that date is reached? If it doesn't come this will be the first time I have had a book not arrive quickly or for that matter not at all..

Thanks

Teresa

THe system will mark the book lost and you'll get your credit back.  PBS suggest you wait 2 wks before reordering it unless you don't mind having 2 copies and paying 2 credits.  If the book shows up after going lost you can mark it received in your Transaction Archive.  The only time you don't have to is if the post mark is 1 wk or less before the go lost date.  (keep in mind that if it has stamps on it the post mark might not be accurate as they don't always get date stamped right away).

Hi Teresa- Welcome

The book will be automatically marked lost by PBS.  It will end up in your transaction archive.  You will receive your credit back so you can request it again from another member.  If you are on a WL you will go back to your spot.  In addtion you will receive a email from PBS letting you know.

What state is the book from?  Places like HI, PR or from a APO member may take 6-8 weeks to arrive.  My first book came from HI and I want to say it took 5+ weeks to arrive.  When it was marked loss - I waited because of the length of time it takes to ship to those locations.  Did the sender use Delivery Confirmation.  You can tell from your transaction page  to the right of the book if there is a yellow circle with a green check - click on the details and it may indicate where the book is on it's journey.

I would contact the sender and to make sure there wasn't a delay in the mail and they should call USPS and ask for them to look for the book - it may have been delivered to the wrong address.   I would wait a little bit before reordering in case it needs a little more time to arrive.

Here is the link to the help docs that will explain what will happen  Book is Lost in Mail

OH wait!  I'm sorry right in front of me... it says in route from KS which I assume means Kansas... wow.. I must be losing my mind! lol.. anyway.. not a far destination.. I suspect if they used DC it would be showing but as I said no info is listed other than the book is in route...

It will show a green check mark if they used DC and you can click on it and see it enroute.  Sometimes books take a long time to travel a short distance. I had a book take close to a month to make what is about a 6hr drive.

Sometimes they mis-scan the bar codes on the PBS label (the one under the address on all the labels-not the DC bar code).  Then the books take a little tour around the US.  I had one taking 3 wks to go from MD to CT.  It was a game book so I had to use DC-they sent it to Illinois-which is not on the way.  Another time I had a book enroute to me about to go lost. They used DC.  When I clicked on it it went from PA to WA to MD. So basically they sent it 2,000 miles in the wrong direction and sent it by truck both times.

Yeah they didn't use DC.. no green check mark... good to know our post office is also in the business of TOURS for books...lol.. this is actually the first time a book has been delayed.. most times I get them within a week or two and I have gotten 2 emails from PBS asking if the book had been received yet.. none of my other books ever got to the point of even one auto-email.. Hopefully I'll hear back from the sending member and maybe they can find it
