There is a WL book on hold on my shelf waiting for a response.  I will be unable to check my account Fri-Mon.  What happens if I put my shelf on vacation in the middle of this process.  I didn't realize when I posted it today that it was WL'd  if I had I would have waited till I return.

Putting your account on hold doesn't affect requests in progress.

Since you are waiting for a response, it was not on auto-request.

The person has 2 days (48h) to respond. When did this start?

Then you have 5 days to accept. You should be OK if you check your account on Thursday and asap on Tuesday.

ETA: Help Doc excerpt

  • The books that are on your Bookshelf at the time the Hold goes into effect will be hidden from requests.

  • This does not include books that are involved in a Wish List Hold or an active transaction.
  • The FIFO order of each book will be preserved during the Hold; it will not "lose its place in line" to get requested.
  • Books that are already involved in an active request will not be affected by the Hold.
    • Any book request that was submitted before the Hold went into effect will not be affected by the Hold
    • Any book request you submit at any time (before, during or after the Hold will not be affected by the Hold.

That's assuming that it doesn't cycle over to the next requestor.

Also, if you do put your account on hold, and this person with the current request declines or it times out after the 48 hours, the book just goes to your shelf and won't be posted and offered to the next person until you take it off vacation hold.

It just started this evening.  Thanks this makes me feel better.  I dislike leaving things dangling but it just may have to this time.

Can you PM the requestor and let them know about your situation?

Put your account on hold now. Then if they decline the offer or let it time out it won't go to someone else.  If they accept after you've left it'll give you 5 full days to accept the request.  If they decline or let it time out while you're on hold it go on your shelf on hold.

I had to do this recently when I noticed damage to a WL book I posted.  When I saw it was likely going to time out on person 1, I put my account on hold and then deleted the book before it could be offered to #2.

I don't think you need to put your account on hold (unless you want to).  If the book does roll over to the next person on the list and they request (or auto request), you'll have five days from the date they request your book to accept their request.
