It's just not Halloween unless I get to watch:

  • Halloween (original)
  • The Wolf Man
  • The Exorcist
  • Hellraiser
  • and Disney's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!

What movies make it Halloween for you?

The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, original Halloween (I have a tape of the theme song which I play so the music can be heard by trick or treaters on Halloween night), and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - I love the Depp version - but my fav one is on an old VHS and stars Jeff Goldbloom; Night of the Living Dead;

Hellraiser definitely. =)

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is another good one!

Some others to add to the list:

Nightmare on Elm Street

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Lost Boys

Dawn of the Dead

The Evil Dead

In the Mouth of Madness

Yes! How can I forget Arsenic & Old Lace!  That is such a great one!

And a little while ago, I was flipping through the regular channels and was thrilled to find a broadcast of the old Chiller Theatre!  A local channel was showing an old b&w movie called Tarantula and after each commercial they showed the Chiller Theatre intro with that creepy hand in the swamp.  To make it even better, they brought back Zacherley to host he show.... he's gotten older but hasn't lost his charm.  For myself, I felt like I was 12 years old again.  Even the weather is cooperating - it's the perfect stormy night and there is even the occasional sounds of thunder.  What a perfect Halloween treat!

I'm more of an all of them kind of gal.  Horror movies, bring 'em on, the more the merrier.  I just discovered that my cable company carries FearNet on one of the Free Movies On-Demand channels, so I've been on a binge this weekend.  Been stuck at home nursing a badly sprained ankle and it's kept me going nuts from boredom.

I'm not much for the gory stuff. I like It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and The Nightmare Before Christmas (although we could watch that one around Christmastime too).

The ones that I absolutely MUST watch at this time of year are Halloween (the original, of course) and The Exorcist.  Of course, I love horror all year round.  But those are definites around Halloween.  AMC is doing Fear Fest all week long.  There have been some good ones so far.

We like watching the Halloween series and the Shining.  We also watch whatever else comes on.
