Sorry, I haven't ever read that series, so I'm not sure.  Hopefully having the book info will help someone else answer your question.  I can tell you that I am going to check out this series now that I took a look at it.  So, sorry I couldn't help, but thanks for the book info!

if i remember right, the Prime in Checkmate was roughly equivalent to the Alpha in most werewolf books.

The brother of the main character is the Prime, the main character is the Alpha.   So confused...  lol

If I remember correctly from that book, the Prime is the protector of the pack.
