I finished Surrender and while it was good, there were some very obvious grammatical errors. It did ruin the flow of the story a bit. I'm going to start reading Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank today.

Finished Bedding the Heiress and didn't like it much at all.  I though it was insipid -- what do the rest of you think of Cathy Maxwell?  Finished The Pretender, and liked it a lot - humor, mystery, good romance.   I just started Facing Fear by Gennita Low -- very good so far.

I sometimes like Cathy Maxwell.  Most of the time I think of her as a Stephanie Laurens clone:P

I keep going back to my Laura Lee Guhrke pile in between the new releases I've bought recently.  I'm on Breathless right now.  Not far enough in to decide how I feel about it yet.  I just finished The Seduction a couple of days ago.  It had its moments, but overall was maybe 4 star/B grade.  It was alternately good and then boring, but the last quarter or so was really good.

in the last couple of days, i've read just-released urban fantasy books that i've been impatiently waiting for, and both of them were really good.  Gale Force (Weather Warden, Bk 7) by Rachel Caine, and Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs.  both are keepers for me.

i'm 2/3 of the way through Charming the Snake by MaryJanice Davidson, Melissa Schroeder, Camille Anthony - and ugh.  we'll see if the last story redeems it at all.

I have been on vac past 2 weeks and didn't get to read much.  :(

I am almost finished with Rescue Me   by Adair, Leigh and Gerard.  I was very disappointed in Adair's story.  I did not like the heroine at all - she kept saying "I think we should go back and get the jeep..."  because she did not trust him even though he is covered head to toe with advanced technology/warfare gear.  TSTL.  I think Adair's story suffered by the short format.  Leigh's story was good I had not read her work before and was pleasantly suprised.  I just started the story by Gerard and so far so good.

I just got No Regrets by Butcher and  The Duke of Shadows  by Duran both recommended here and trying to decide which to read next.  The Duke of Shadows came from Kim and has a lovely book cover and a hot bookmark so that book has got serious appeal!!

Plus my account was on hold for 2 weeks and now that it is active I have had 4 WL books pop up in 24 hrs.  Woo hoo!

Yesterday I read The Promise of Jenny Jones by Maggie Osborne. This is the first book I've read by her. I thought it was good. I liked both the H & h.

Now I'm reading Let Me Be the One by Jo Goodman. It's book 1 in her Compass Club series. So far I'm enjoying it. I like her writing style.

Dana - Lol, that is so funny that something could actually move up the TBR pile because of the bookmark & cover.  That never occurred to me.  I'll have to pay special attention to the frou-frou whenever I really want you guys to read something right away:P

Ah, I loved that one, Jen. The first and third are my favorites.

I haven't liked recent Cathy Maxwell at all, seemed very poorly written, but I tried an older book and it was delightful. So I picked up a bunch more of the older ones and am hoping for the best.

Finishing up Bodyguard. I think today's gym book will be The Scottish Companion by Karen Ranney.

I finished Fire Dancer and it was pretty good.  I read Corpse Pose by Diana Killian--a new mystery series involving a woman who owns a yoga studio--really good and I have to wait for the next one to come out.

Next up is The Witness by Dee Henderson--new author for me but the book sounds good.

Ellen - both those books sound interesting...put them on my WL.

Dana - I've got Rescue Me coming in the mail - that's a shame to hear about Adair's story.  You will like No Regrets, though!  Great story.

Shari - The Witness was good, but in my opinion not her best, so try not to judge her too badly by that book. Just my humble opinion!

I finally finished up Going Home and it was good, although it kind of dragged in places.   I'm about to start The Bartered Bride by Mary Jo Putney.

I'm part way through Marliss Melton's In The Dark.  Not sure completely what I think.  I don't dislike it, but I'm not totally sucked in either.  Could go either way!

I'm just having the worst luck with books lately! I picked The Scottish Companion because I usually love the engaged-man-falls-for-another-woman theme, but in this book, the engagement is so clearly a disaster for everyone involved, it's just ridiculous. And there's nothing offered in the text to make the fact that they don't just break it off make sense.

The heroine is an excellent character, but I don't know if that will save the book for me.

The Witness wasn't doing anything for me so I picked up The Dark River by John Twelve Hawks instead. It's the sequel to The Traveler--so far it's pretty good.

I finally read Sugardaddy and then had to rush out and get Blue Eyed Devil. Definitely some of Kleypas best work there, IMO. I loved them!

Sherri, great!  i really enjoy both of those authors.  if you're going to get Cry Wolf, you may want to try to get the anthology On the Prowl first.  the story in there covers the first meeting of Anna & Charles, and the novel picks up pretty much where the story left off.  the first book in the Weather Warden series is Ill Wind (Weather Warden, Bk 1).

this afternoon i finished up Charming the Snake by MaryJanice Davidson, Melissa Schroeder, Camille Anthony.  i'll have to remember to post a review for this one just to provide information.  like probably a lot of people, i wanted it for the MJD story.  well, last night i was reading it and had to take a break just as i figured it was about to get going - and when i got back there were only 4 pages left.  argh!  her story is only the first 46 pages of the ~280.  the second story was just enh.  the third story was actually fairly hot, but there was this whole mystery element that was in the prologue at the beginning and then magically solved at the end without much in the way about it in the middle.  so why even bother?

tonight i read Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, Bk 4) by Kresley Cole, which is definitely good, as has been the rest of the series.

next up is probably the Jennifer Scales series by MJD, which i happily requested once i noticed my library had them.  :)

I read Dark Deads After Dusk by Kresley Cole and really quite enjoyed it!  Although I thought the resolution of the h/h at the end kind of happened very quickly.  And it was very anticlimatic with Cadeon and his brother Rydstrom - but I'm hopeful their relationship gets addressed more in Rydstrom's book.  I hate that I know I have to wait until next year for anything from her.   I picked up Delicious by Sherry Thomas at WalMart due to Kim and I'm looking forward to reading it on the plane today (I'm off to Germany for work for the next week and a half - with a trip to Paris in between!)

I just finished a couple by Jet Mykles that are witch/ shifter erotica and the story is so good! The first is her short in Howl ( an anthology) and the second is Leashed: More Than A Bargain. Great character interaction- and I'm not talking just the sex, although that was great too (m/m/f)! Exciting and suspenseful.

I'm actually starting to come out of my year long reading slump (yeah!!) so I have something to contribute to this thread!!!

I just finished Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I really enjoyed it. I've been hearing dire reviews about the Dream Hunter part of the series but this was really interesting. But, the resolution of both of the dream hunter books have been just a little..well...boring. Don't want to post spoilers so I'll leave it at that.

Edited to add, I'm now reading Forget Me Not by Marliss Melton.

Cyndi - I've not normally been a fan of the Dream Hunter Books but I too enjoyed Dream Chaser.

I didn't get any reading done at all yesterady but listened to more of the Dixie Cash book on the way to work this morning. It's pretty funny! Also still reading the marianne stillings book - oops I DID read a little bit - 2 whole pages before falling asleep last night! :-)

hoping like crazy they shut the plant down this evening due ot the tropical storm predicted to hit here..knowing this place they wont' though..they made us wait til the last minute before they shut down for hurricane rita when it was predicted to hit galveston but ended up hitting farther up a bit.

ETA; darn it I went out and bought 'bedding the heiress' and 'in the bed of a duke' by maxwell after the 'guess the book game'..they'd better be good darn it!

I haven't had much time to read since finishing Virgin River a week ago, but finally picked up At the Corner of Love and Heartache by Curtiss Ann Matlock.  I'm awaiting the other 2 Virgin River series books, so figured this would be good in the meantime, since I finished Cold Tea on a Hot Day a couple of weeks ago.  It's ok so far- I like descriptive books that make you feel like you are right there with the characters, but sometimes this author goes a little far into that for me.  I still enjoy the story and the characters though.  Hopefully the other VR books will be here this week and I can get into those.

Well I read more of 'midnight in the garden of good and evie' and listened to more of the dixie cash story . both are really good! at least to me they are! now I'm trying to figure out which to read/listen to tonight.

can you believe my a$$hole company is making us work tomorrow? there could be a cat 1 hurricane forming and scheduled to hit galveston and go right across us with 75mph winds..other companies shut down and sent everyone home but i'm scheduled to get there right when it's aobut to make land..rightnow it's just a tropical storm but expected to strengthen..so now I spend the night worrying and calling to check on the status of the plant and risk getting stuck there tomorrow if I have to go in..my head's pounding..don't feel like reading but at least that take smy mind off this other crap. sigh...

anyways, I hope to finish the marianne stillings book tonight or tomorrow. still have 4 hours left on the dixie cash story.

gosh this temptation thread isn't slowing down is it?!!

I didtn' sleep worth a darn last night waiting to see if the storm was gonna hit here and I'd be driving in a storm..could still storm but it's headed to beaumont a bit east/north of here. I have a friend there and she had damage from hurricane rita and that one was predicted to hit galveston.

anyways, read more of 'midnight in the garden of good and evie' and hope I can finisht that one today. also listened to more of the dixie cash story and I'm really loving that audio!
