Just finished 'See Jane Score' by Rachel Gibson and it was good! It was a bit slow in the beginning (at least I thought so) but I ended up liking the guy(already liked the woman!). Does anyone know if she wrote about any of the other players? I know Deidre? Martin did that but not sure about Gibson.

Now I'm trying to decide what to read next..thinking about 'Murder Between the Covers' (dead end job mystery) or After the Night by Linda Howard...and I'm tired and wanna go home to bed but still have 4 more hours to go...

ETA: Well I was leaning towards the mystery but decided to start 'After the Night'. boy it's one of those hateful words books that I hate but I couldnt' put it down (well except to work!) and it's pretty good so far! I"m only about 80 pages into it so far (we got a little busy off and on!) but I"m hoping I can get at least halfway before going home this morning..not quite a 1/3 through it yet. It sounds so like Lousiana/south in general with the name calling and way of life for the 'elite'...though I'm not sure how she's gonna end up forgivning this guy for calling her those names as a 14 yr old girl..I guess having him go through a lot too might even it up a bit...

ETA: ok, the guy's still an a$$ so far...! It makes me so mad when the kids are labeled the same as the parents..ok, keep reading! :-) but Ithink I already know at least one guilty person!

I just finished A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole. I may have to break down and buy the next 2 in the series.  I really liked it.

Last night I started Back from Hell by Shiloh Walker. Never read anything of hers before. Its ok so far.

LOL, Susanna! I liked After The Night very much...yes, the guy is a a-hole for a while but he improves :)

I just finished The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever and boy, oh, boy I was so spitting mad...this is my second dissapointing read in a row. I hate the 'you don't tell me you love me' conflict...it's just so lame and ridiculous! You can't force anybody to love you so if the guy can't tell you whether he does or not, well, just grow up and enjoy your marriage! He's a good husband, attentive, sweet and you're going to spoil the good relationship you do have just because he won't say I love you. Grrrrrrr!

I don't know what to read next. I'm dying for a good book so maybe I'll start Naked In Death, which I picked up from the library.

I hate that theme too D.G.  I don't kn ow what books you have in your TBR pile so can't say what you have that's good! I just started listening to 'naked in death' on audio and so far it's good so maybe that won't disappoint you!

Think 'm gonna shower and go to bed and try to read some more in this book! this guy better straighten up prety fast..maybe it's the lousiana thing LOL..I read a book a while back by Joann Ross that was set there and the guy got mean to the woman over something she had no idea about...southern women don't usually take crap like that darnit!

thinking of reading julie garwood's FBI books next unless they get too 'scary'! depends on my mood I guess..might get on another linda howard kick after this one and read 'drop dead gorgeous' or 'open season'...

ETA: does anyone know the order for her Buchanaon fbi series? I can't access it from work's computer and my computer here can't handle it either..bummer...I think Heartbreaker is the first and Mercy is next? that's probably as far as I'll get but wanted to see if Ihad them all...

I just finished Stella Cameron's The Orphan this morning. I think I'm going to read Nora Roberts' Carolina Moon and Jayne Ann Krentz's Flash this week.

Hi Ladies, I have been absent a while, Sorry about that. I have been teaching summer school and it is a pretty rapid pace and I didn't have a lot of time to read. I have really been on a series romance kick in the past few months. I know many readers not in the know (LOL) consider then the black sheep of reading genres, but I enjoy them. They are long enough to be enjoyable and short enough to read in a reasonable time period. I'm not a fast reader. That being said, I just finished probably one of the worst series romances ever. It probably took me 2 weeks to read a 250 page book!! The title is HONEYMOON WITH A STRANGER by Frances Housden. Silhouette Intimate Moments #1393 Nov. '05. This book lacked the romance and the suspense that I have come to enjoy in this line. The spark just wasn't there. I don't think I'll read any more books by her. I just started the new historical Blaze by Hope Tarr entltled BOUND TO PLEASE. I think this should be a good one. Take care all and happy reading.

I'm working on The Playboy by Carly Phillips.  Read The Bachelor last week which was okay.  I'm enjoying The Playboy more.

Oh, and I snuck in a quick read of Bed on Arrival by Kelly St John ( a new Blaze title) last week since I'd been waiting for that one.

I am reading At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon....it isn't a romance novel but it is relaxing and actually funny...there is a dog in the story that makes me LOL.

I finished Taking the Heat/Kathryn Shay--very good book, I'm debating whether or not to keep it. I've just started Force of Nature by Suzanne Brockmann--one of the Troubleshooters books.

I also have a series romance started--a Love Inspired Suspense called Vendetta by Roxanne Rustand, part of the Snow Canyon Ranch trilogy.

edited for spelling

I am still reading Secrets of Seduction by Madeline Hunter.  Should finish it later this week.  Don't know what I'll pick up next....got about 8 books in the TBR pile.  I love it when there's lots to choose from.   Pauline

Just finished reading THE ANGEL by Carla Neggers. It was pretty good. The mystery/suspense was the main focus of the story and the romance played a minor role. I would suggest reading THE WIDOW before this book. I thought it made it a little easier to follow some of the characters. Luckily for me it happened to be the other book of hers that I'd read.

I'm reading What I did on my summer vacation -- a Harlequin Blaze anthology -- The first story by Thea Devine was cute -- it's in first person but I liked it - a lot lighter than some of her other longer books.  Still working on the other two.

Patricia--let us know how you like the rest of the stories--it looks like a good anthology :)  Kathy, I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about Hope Tarr's Blaze historical--I'm intrigued...

And D.G., Secret Diaries of Miranda Cheever was really annoying because of that--I'd just finished a bunch of her Bridgertons and then read Diaries, and it was quite a let-down for me.

Susanna, I wouldn't mind reading more about the Chinooks, too, but I'm not sure if See Jane Score is part of a series--maybe someone else who's read more Gibson could say definitively...

I finished Sylvia Day's A Passion for Him, and another of Nalini Singh's Desires--Desert Warrior.  Both of those were quite good.  Then zipped through Maureen Child's Bourbon Street Blues, which was OK.  It's part of the Hotel Marchand series, but I don't have a burning desire to track the rest of them down...  ;p

Susanna--I think Rachel Gibson has 2 other books about the hockey players. Simply Irresistable came out before See Jane Score and The Trouble with Valentine's Day came out after; however, there is not as much actual hockey-playing in these two.

Will do, Fedora. I'll report back hopefully in a couple of days. I give my French final exam tomorrow, so I have 2 hours of good reading time. Boy, I'll be glad to see the back end of this class. They have been an aggravation from the git/go. In all my years of teaching--8 now, this has been my worst class ever, and that is counting high school.!!

I'm reading The Brass Bed by Jennifer Stevenson.  It's rather odd.  It's a paranormal book and I just don't understand parts of it!  lol  I don't think the author did a very good job explaining the different things in the book.  I'm almost done with it.

The link is in my signature if you'd like to read the summary.

I'm on to The Heartbreaker now, the last in this trilogy.  I'll probably take me most of the week, I never get reading time during the week.  Oh, but it's a short week!  A whole 3 day weekend to read!

I just finished Not Another Bad Date by Rachel Gibson.  It was the last of her series of 4 friends who are writers.  The best one so far was Sex, Lies and Online Dating (IMO) although I have Tangled Up In You left to read.

I just added a bunch of books to my TBR pile that I am a little overwhelmed at what to read next.  I am thinking No Ordinary Man by Suzanne Brockmann as it looks like a quick read and is wishlisted.

I have several from Beverly Barton who I have not read before.  Does anyone recommend her?

boy, at work and same problem I left with only worse! sigh..gonna have to fit in some reading between stuff just to relax and clear my mind..this month hasn't been a high achiever on the reading scale, considering 4 were kids' books on audio! I still keep track of  my reads in the sticky we have at the top here..helps me keep track!

anyways, hoping to finish 'AFter the night' by Linda  Howard tonight..it's a lot of suspense and I feel sorry for the poor woman in this one..this guy's gonna hve a lot of making up to do...

thanks for the order of the books Kelly! I don't know why my computer won't open that website and of course couldnt' find a listmania listing them on amazon...good news is I *think* I have all of them..just crossing my fingers they're good LOL and not a series of ick...

Shari, not sure if have those 2 Gibson books but I might.I'l check them out.

Kathy I like the series romances..I go through phases where they're about all I read..especially at work if it's busy and I can only read a page or two at a time and am tired and dont' wanna keep track of a buch of c haracters.

Jessica, I enjoyed the Mitford books..sorta burned myself out on them though since I read them pretty much back to back..havne't read them since when they went to that island I think it was..or might've read one after than..been a while. Robin Carr has a trilogy that introduces some characters that are in the Virgin River series that's been raved about by some on here(including me!) but they really reminded me of the Mitford books only with more sad stuff going on. the virgin river ones have a totally different flavor.  I think deep in the valley is the first, just over the mountan, and dangit can't remmbe rthe 3rd but it's hard to find but supposed to be reprinted. teh whole time I was reading those 3 kept thinking it reminded me of the  mitford ones though not as 'happy'..I liked the dog too!

yeah, I finished 'After the Night' by Linda Howard..still have another almost 7 hours to go on this shift..and about 5 til the boss shows up...sigh...thinking about starting 'midnight rainbow' by this author..anyone still up who's read that one? I think there are 4 related books and of course the 2nd one is wishlisted - diamond bay - it was on my reminder and now my wishlist so I think someone here must have mentioned it before! then there's heartbreaker and white lies..not sure if I have those or not but dont' think I do..at least they're available here though.

don't know if I can handle any more of these alpha males though! might have to read something else to help pass the time. I ended up really liking 'after the night'.the guy did a complete about face once he got laid...
