happy valentine's day!!

I finally got the crockpot chili set up(now that the weather is finally warming up a bit but oh well first chance I've had to get it done) and am about to go snooze after night shift. I'm reading Meeting Her Match, another book in the Mule Hollow series by Debra Clopton. fun light reads.

not sure what I'll read next..had planned on reading Angel's Peak by Robyn Carr but ended up working last night so guess it'll wait plus I'm really into this love inspired series and they're easy to concentrate on and fairly quick reads though they're taking me a couple of days/nights each from being so tired and distracted!

also have a stack of library books..talk about pressure LOL!

I have Days of Gold from the library (Jude Deveraux), but right now I'm reading Bodyguard by Lori Foster.  It's typical Foster - if you're not expecting a literary masterpiece, you'll enjoy a fun & sexy romp.

I just finished Midnight Sun by Amanda Harte, although I'm not quite sure why I finished it. I picked it up because it was set in Alaska and I like unusual settings like that. What I didn't like, at all, was the hero. Every time the heroine upset him (and just about everything the heroine does upsets him) he runs to the whorehouse to have sex with his favorite whore, June...tells her "I need you" and other romantic babble. In fact it seemed like he and June got it on more than he did with the heroine, he certainly seemed to "need" her more. Then at the end of the book the heroine forgives the hero like the WORST sin a hero can commit in a romance novel (like, this thing should never, ever happen in a romance novel...). I'd have killed the man then spit on his grave, but she gets down on her knees to beg his forgiveness for being mad at him about it! If it hadn't been the last pages of the book I'd have chucked it into the trash right then and there.

I finished One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake and liked it quite well.  New author for me, and I liked this one well enough to WL some of her other books.  Now I'm reading Sizzling by Susan Mallery, then will be on to Tempting, so I can finish that series before I forget what happened in the first two books.

Sarah, I'm all curious now - could you say what it is in spoiler letters? (Can we do that here?)

Finished Bed of Roses. Meh. It just annoyed me all the way through. Started Fragile Eternity, which is very good but makes me nervous. Think I'll probably start Whispering Rock for my gym book. I've been putting it off forever, I should just read or get off the pot.

Okay here's the spoiler: The hero has sex with and has a baby with the whore after he's claimed he loves the heroine and askes her to marry him (this is well past the halfway point of the book). His reason for getting drunk and going to the whore despite the fact he has a fiance? Because he was mad that his finace, who is a doctor, helped an indian get to a hospital - like tit for tat for that horrible offense would be running off to bed his favorite whore (for like the tenth time in the book). Though the hero is not absolutely sure the baby is his, he holds the child and decides he loves it and will be the father. The heroine finds out about the baby an gets pissed, and rightly so, she breaks off the engagement. Tthen later (after the whole town is telling her she's being foolish not marrying this guy) she goes crawling back to him literally on her knees begging his forgiveness and to take her back, that she'll raise his and the whore's baby like it's her own.. Okay, so on the last page the whore comes clean and says that the hero wasn't the father, that he was too drunk to get it up the last time he went to her (and too drunk to remember he didn't have sex with her that time, apparently, because he thought he did and kept it secret from the heroine). BUT it isn't like this knowledge means hero redeemed himself, he's just as big an ass despite the fact he was luckily too drunk to get it up. He's still a cheat and a jackass.

Haha, Sarah..."spit on his grave". I would join you in spitting on his grave, once you've run out of spit. Sounds like not only a jackass but a bigot too.

ok I will definitely be skipping THAT book!'

I finished Meeting Her Match by Debra Clopton then realized a little over halfway through it that I'd missed a book - I know I had it so went looking and sure enough it had fallen out of the bag in the car. This story stood alone but the woman had been dumped at a wedding reception when  her bf met 'ms. right' so I was wondering which wedding LOL! so now I have the book that should have been read before it. I have 3 more to read then I wait for the next to arrivea nd wouldn't it figure out of the remaining titles that that particular one is the ONLY one not accepted yet?! yep the others have a mail by date or the label has been printed but this one is still waiting. oh well. If it's not here by the time I get there I'll either skip it or go to something else..usually I dont' stay on a series this long but these sorta grabbed me.

Disliked plot + disliked author's style = just skimming Whispering Rock. I suspect I will be skimming the rest of her books, too.  Guess I will go to the library and get the next Sookie Stackhouse book.

I finished Slave to Sensation  by Nalini Singh.  LOVED IT!  Now I'm desperate to get my hands on the rest of the series.  (Just what I need, right?)

Jessica, that book looks interesting.

Although, by now, I should have learned not to judge a book by it's cover, but I do anyways.

Me too, but this one really is good so it's alright to judge by the cover. :)

I'm reading ""Tis Herself" by Maureen O'Hara.  What a woman.  She tells it lke it is(was) and didn't take any crap professionally.  I'm at the point where she is working with Tyrone Power and has her first child with her alcoholic husband.  Who knew?  not me.

Oh I am excited...I didn't know Shift was out. Where did you find it? NOT that I will go and buy it....I will wait for FIFO. (well maybe I should check book depository.....)

I am still reading Broken Wing by Judith James, which I like. Also reading Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James (ebook), plus started Danger Calls by Caridad Pineiro (thin, good for the purse). I plan to spend time on Broken Wing today.

JUST ONE OF THE GUYS/Kristan Higgins. My bookseller has CATCH OF THE DAY used so she's holding it for me, and I have TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE from the library. My best friend will love JUST ONE as the heroine is very tall and so is my friend.

Reading Captive Bride by Johanna Lindsey to finish up a box to ship to my bodice ripper best friend.  We each read the rippers and then switch - its a good relationship!  :D

:)I remember Captive Bride! that used to be one of my favorites!

I just started Dream a LIttle Dream by Debra Clopton..it had fallen out of the bag so I read the  next book and then realized I'd missed one in the series! so going back to read it now. Finished Meeting Her Match yesterday..it got warm enough to sit outside so I was on the deck in the swing with my doggies - Kayla sure liked the change of scenery since she can't go walking or anything yet. April 1 she should be able to do short leash walks again and I can't wait!

I'll have to try those Singh books Sherri..I was afraid they'd be too intense/scarey for me..still not sure they won't be since you're tougher than me LOL!

Thankfully, I'm about 100 pages from finishing Thea Devine's His Little Black Book. There is very little to like here. The three main female characters (I refuse to call them heroines) are conniving witches, and the men they bed are all either mean or married. Can't wait to be finished with it, and I'm hoping these three women don't get their HEAs, because they deserve no such thing.

I wish I had the ability to DNF. I just can't make myself do it.

Susanna, where are you that it's warm enough to sit outside!?  Wish I were there.   Over the weekend I re-read Dark Stranger and Rides a Hero by Heather Graham.  Not sure what I'll read next.  I certainly have enough books to chose from but seem to be in a reading slump:/.

Margy - when you get that way, just walk to your book shelf - close your eyes and grab one.  Works for me every time and usually you end up reading something you kept passing over - most of the time my passed over books are really good and I have to kick my self for not reading it sooner!
