I'm ready to start another book but on day shift so wont' get too far - was going to start Vengeance in Death by Robb but interlibrary loan arrived - The Prize by J ulie Garwood w hich fits one of the RT challenges I'm doing - lemme tell you I'm afraid to read this one since the pages are loose..hope  don't get blamed for it falling apart. They should've have accepted this but oh well. I also have that Simon Blackwell ebook startd so I'd better get back to that in the next week since it's on a timeframe. they check out for 14 days and I have about 9 left I think.

DNF for A Love of Her Own by Maggie Brendan.  Heroine was a spoiled little rich girl.  Ugh.  Of course the premise was her finding out money didn't buy happiness but  I have too many books to read.  Plus she was uber annoying.

Read Serengeti Heat by Vivi Andrews - that was pretty good, but short. Start of a new series for her.

I read Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis and loved it- had to go right out and get the next book!  I'm definitely checking out more of her stuff.  I know she writes some suspense, which I'm not really into, but it looks like she has a good amount of contemporary romances too.  I love discovering an author that has a substantial back list!

Then I read Be My Baby by Meg Benjamin- this is the 3rd of the Konigsburg, TX series.  It was ok.  I still like the first one best.

Now I am on Bound, Branded and Brazen by Jaci Burton (thanks again, Diana!)  I just finished Bound, so guess I am about a third of the way through.  Definitely hot and steamy, but still with a substantial plot and good character development.  I like this author a lot.

I also started The Thirteenth Tale, which is not a romance but which has been on my TBR forever, and one of my friends on Goodreads told me I HAVE to read it.  I read the first chapter and will probably read the rest when I'm done with Bound, Branded and Brazen, which I need to finish since I'm using it in a swap.

I dunno 'bout this Vengeance in Death book...I sat down for a break with my banana and yogurt and that murder/torture was beyond graphic. crying sounds like another psycho but with butchering tendencies...do hers get more and more and more violent as they go on? I mean, I know they're dealing with a homicide detective but I don't really wanna hear about hands chopped off and  eyes dug out and all that..blech..yet I want to continue the storyline darn it!

Now I am on Bound, Branded and Brazen by Jaci Burton

I just ordered that from my WL... I read another 3-story anthology by Burton and it was so good.  Can't wait to get this one!  I'm about halfway through Chasing Fire and it's good.  Story about the Missoula firefighters who jump out of planes (I can't think of the name now).

Oh, and Jill Shalvis is soooooooooooooooooooo good.  I love her books!

I just finished Janelle Denison's new one Into the Night.  This was  fantastic book.  The tension in the story line was non-stop and the sexual tension between the H/h was HOT.  I love this author.  The next book in the Reliance Group series will be out in October.  Can't wait until it comes out.

Just finished What A Demon Wants by Kathy Love and it was beyond stupid. There was no plot and the ending was so freaking dumb that I don't know why I wasted my time after the first 50 pages, guess I was hoping it would get better.. Glad it was a free e-book.

Now reading

Any Given Doomsday (Phoenix Chronicles, Bk 1) by Lori Handeland, it's ok but there hasn't been a lot of action yet.

Susanna, they don't get more gory, just some a gorier (is that a word?) than others.

Edited to add:

I have to stop looking at other's wishlists LOL The Big Penis Book

Leslie - Jill Shalvis is an awesome author! I have most of her books on my keeper shelf :)  She keeps getting better!  You should check out her blog too, SOOOO funny!

I am starting Candace Camp's A Lady Never Tells. She is new to me, so we'll see how it goes. I do love my historicals.

Thanks for the tip Cindy- I love author blogs so will have to check it out!  I don't know what took me so long to read her, but I"m glad I finally did!

Michelle, Bound, Branded and Brazen is really good, you won't be disappointed!  I'm already halfway through the 2nd story.  I usually have very little time to read, but it being Mothers Day, my kids have tried to make sure I have time to do what I want.  Now I just want to finish it!  I know I'm going to want to get more of her books now!

Reading Nora Roberts Key Trilogy books, read years ago but started again after getting a book on tape from the library. Don't remember too much by I'm enjoying the characters. Liked Flynn in the first book, the heroine asked him if he liked Brazilians -- he says "The nuts or the the people". Needless to say she was talking about waxing. I do like it when there is some witty dialogue in books. :)

Reading an old Karen van der Zee, Soul Ties. It's pretty interesting. Also have Married by Morning to finish up.

Lesley, I am so glad you like it!  If I get any more of Burton's books I will ask if you want them to be passed along to you.

Okay, I started Into the Crossfire by Lisa Marie Rice..an interlibrary loan that took 6 months to get due to the incredibly long wait list.  It was so worth it!  I am almost 1/2 way through it and I want to get my hands on the second novel RIGHT NOW!  The characters are well thought out and the plot keeps you hooked from the 3rd page.  I would strongly recommed this book.

Of course, I love anything/everything by Lisa Marie Rice and this one is no exception.

I finally got copies of the two daughters from Outcast by Emily Carmichael.  The twin girl's books are Gold Dust and Windfall.  I really liked Outcast because no one was perfect in it but the romance was great.  I haven't read any of this author's contemps but her historicals are good.

I've had an amazing Mother's Day, being allowed some uninterrupted time to read.  As such, I was able to finish reading Soulless by Gail Carriger and it was excellent.  I loved it and may put it on my keeper's shelf.  I've been told it is the best of the three that are out and while I have the next two in the series I think I will wait a bit before I read them.  I then read A Tall Dark Cowboy which was a quick read and had a nice story.  I am now reading Conquest by Jaid Black and like most of her scifi books its quick and cheesy but you got to love it anyways! LOL

I just spent the entire day reading The Painted Lady by Lucia Grahame. It has a lot of elements that would usually drive me away - first person narrative, unlikeable, clueless, matyr heroine, and yet I couldn't tear myself away. It was well-written with a marraige in trouble plotline (one of my favorite tropes) and a compelling hero, so it kept me riveted until the end. The heroine makes it a non-keeper for me, but I think it really says something of the author that I liked it despite the heroine (I usually won't finish books with heroines that I really dislike).

Good morning, all!

I didn't get a lot of reading done this weekend, but I did finish In Too Deep by Cherry Adair, and am loving this series. She writes such a great action story, even though I hated the H/h premise (he hooks up with her in order to gain vengeance on her evil father).

I'm a little over halfway finished now with Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 11). It was a very slow start, but it's starting to finally pick up.

Diana, you reminded me to look for rice at the ebook library and they actually had one!  Of course it's book three, but I think I read book 2, so not so bad.

Currently reading Scream for Me by Karen Rose. Not far enough in to really have an opinion yet.

All done with Dead Reckoning. I felt like nothing happened in the first half of the book, but the second half was chock-full of stuff, both good and bad plot-wise. I'm very undecided with how I feel about certain events, and the direction they will push Sookie. Just when I'm sure I want one thing to happen, I have this niggling in the back of my head, and I change my mind. (Sorry I'm being so cryptic, but I don't want to give away any spoilers).

I've got to get some swap reading out of the way now that I've indulged in Sookie, so up next is Lacey Alexander's City Heat.

I finished Chosen by Blood by Virna DePaul. I had started it a month ago and I hated the hero, I didn't think he could redeem himself to me because of his feelings about something. I started it again yesterday and read it start through, it was much better. I was able to deal with the hero this time and I grew to like him

Willa,  I'll be interested to know what you think of that book.  It was too gruesome for me.

She's generally gruesome, I'm pretty much used to it. Hope those aren't famous last words!

I finished Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts.  I loved everything about it.  The storyline and setting (Missoula smoke jumpers), the snappy dialogue, the characters (and their names & nicknames)...everything was really, really good.  I did figure out the suspense part pretty early on.  IMO it was obvious who was going to be the bad guy, but that didn't really detract from the book.  I loved Gull and Rowan together - she gave as good as she got and he called her out when she needed it.  At one point there is a conversation (about Gull) between Rowan and another woman & she says, "He's gorgeous, and strikes me as tough and sweet.  That's an appealing blend in a man."  That pretty much sums him up.  Sometimes Nora does "guy" soooooooooooo well.

I started Lora Leigh's Wicked Sacrifice the other day.  I really don't like Tally (the heroine in Wicked Intent) but I guess I'll pick back up where I left off.
