It shows a percentage next to each of my buddies - similarity of what?  WL?  Bookshelf?  Transactions?

Look under What's New, at the top right hand corner of each page;  it lists all the detail of all the changes, as detailed in the Help Center.

It's pretty cool.  I found it when I clicked on a new member's profile.

I just noticed that too - apparently takes your star ratings and selected favorite genres and then determines how 'similar' you are to other members.  Kind of neat, I guess!

ETA:  It tells me I'm 113% similar to myself...nice.  =D

I JUST came here to ask about this, having seen it when I clicked on someone's profile.  Going to check out myself and my husband.  That oughta be interesting.

I just noticed it yesterday; I like it :) It used to only apply to people's buddy lists, which I was disappointed by, since I don't have anybody on my buddy list except for games moderators... but now it shows up on every profile I visit! So far I'm 5% or 0% similar to most people whose profiles I've seen... I guess I really do have eclectic tastes :P

I'm also 113% similar to myself.  I'd say the scale is a bit skewed.  Perhaps TPTB have a bit more tweaking to do.  It is really neat to see how similiar your tastes are to your friends.  I've got a few that are as high as 38%.  How about you?

I have a few 22% similarities, a few around 17 or 18%, and the rest are 8% or lower.

I'm 100% similar to myself.

I don't rate many books, so my rating is fairly low for most of the people on my BL.

Bonnie, you and I are 67% similar! I think we must have read/rated a lot of the same books. :)  I think you are the highest % on my buddy list.

Zoe, you're 15% similar to me, which is at least more than 5%.

Off to check out Zoe's shelf.

Most that I've looked at are only around 5-10% similar to me.  The highest one I've found was 19%.

Zoe- 11% for you, that's more than 5%!

Donna- 15% to you, I think that's the highest I've seen yet, so now I'm off to check YOUR bookshelf! :-P

Edited- Until I checked Ashley (20%), now I have TWO bookshelves to check out, lol...

I'm surprised by the similarity index.  I'm less similar to people who I thought I'd be very similar to, and likewise more similar to people I thougth I had nothing in common with.  Regardless, it's interesting and nobody's complaining about it so it gets like five thumbs up as a new feature lol.

I'm 100% similar to myself.  The next highest was 15% similar to someone else and I'm 7% similar to my best friend.  I had a few  0% in there too, LOL.

I'm starting to get depressed aboutthis similarity thing (not really ;D).  I've found the highest similarity to someone at 11%.  And I've looked at a lot of profiles!  Guess I really am the weird duck others talk about.  Oh, well, being unique (weird???) is okay by me!  I don't know how to find out how similar I am to myself.  At this rate I'm scared to know!  LOL!!  ;D

Ruth, I think the similarity thing needs a little more data to work properly...I clicked on your profile and we are 0% similar...yet it appears we have similar tastes in books.

Thanks, Matt!  It makes me feel better that you said this!  I actually found one person that is 22% similar - and I would never have thought that was so!  No book interests in common at all.  Everyone beware if you're similar to me!  LOL!! ;D

Brenna you're my highest so far, too (21%).  I haven't read most of the things on my bookshelf (and if I have, it's probably posted because I didn't really like it!), but I just checked out your wish list, and mine is a few books longer now, haha !  =)

Ashley, I added you as a buddy since we DO seem to have similar tastes!  I found a few books to add to my wishlist after scanning through your wishlist! :-P  I see that you are reading The Other Boleyn Girl.  I really enjoyed that book and found it hard to put down!  I have nearly all the other books in the "Boylen Series" and I'm just waiting for a time where I can really enjoy them (probably around the holidays in December where I have an extended break from work).  In fact, I read all the books in your signature except for "A Walk to Remember" but I do want to read that one!

The highest one I have is 70%, I noticed that she and I had very similar wishlists and bookshelves, and then noticed the similarity index and was amazed.

I feel like Ruth.  I checked everyone's profiles that's responded to this thread and I got one 20% and one 7%, the rest were 0%!!  I could tell that some wouldn't be similar, but surely there's some that have similar taste to mine. I will be checking others though and see how that goes.

I just checked my own profile, at least I'm 100% similar to myself, which is always good to know.

I'm always willing to make deals and have lots of unpostables listed on my profile page. PM me and let's make some deals.

This is a smoke-free home, but I do have 3 cats who love to sniff and climb on the books piles. They're not allowed to read my books however.
