What If 2 is the second book in its seris of historical fiction. I enjoyed the perspectives from various historians who wrote the in depth histories leading up to the events and then predicted what would have happened had they not unfolded in that way. Definitely a must-have for history buffs or those who just want to enjoy a book by historians who investigate and articulate history's "what ifs?"

An anthology of 25 "counterfactuals" e.g. "What if Teddy Roosevelt had gotten the Republican Nomination in 1912?" All authors spend a lot of time discussing the facts surrounding the events, most are better historians than fantasy writers, and they have trouble spinning a story about how history would have changed.

My favorite was the last one, "What if Pizzaro had not found Potatos in Peru?"

This is probably best not read in one sitting.

"There is no surer way to feel the danger of the good fortune of our collective past than to contemplate those moments when the world's future hung in the balance. Our brightest historians speculate on some of these intriguing crossroads and the ways in which our lives might have been changed for the better-- or the worse."
