HIi i do alot of trading and purchasing and try to get rid of books for credits. im wondering what are the most sought after authors.

The authors of books that alot of people purchase. I am wondering what authors i shoud purchase to get credits.

The reason i am posting here is I usually only purchase love and romance books, so i figured everyone on here would know.

It depends Jennifer.   Speaking only for myself, I'm always on the lookout for Lorelei James, Courtney Milan, Sherry Thomas.   Everyone likes different things.

Under Community in the menu at the top of the page, look at "Top 100" and look under "Wishes".  This will tell you what books have the largest wish lists.  Also look at "Requests" to see the top 100 requested books.

I have to say, the most popular authors often are not good choices to get to post. They are in high demand after a book comes out, then demand will drop as there is often so many copies available. Although erotica always seems to be in demand.

Well you have to watch paranormal. It's much more mainstream now and some are very heavily posted.  When I shop for books at thrift stores, I usualy just get stuff I'm interested in reading and not worry about if it's WL or not.  I just donate it after I read it if it's heavily posted.

If you really want to find cheap used WL books to post here then I would study what's WL in a couple of genres that you like.  That's what I did when I used to really search for used books to post.

I would avoid the biggies like: Nora Roberts, Grisham, Patterson, Brown, Steele, Piccoult etc..,  Most of their books are only WL for  a short time after they get relased.  Many of their books have thousands of copies in the system.  There may be random editions that have a short WL but you would have to know exact ISBNS and even then they might just be rarer editions that never get posted and the wishers are no longer active.

Really at this point, it's cheaper to buy credits from someone than it is to buy books just to post. And if you are buying it to read first than does it really matter how quick it will go?  Buy it, read it, hopefully enjoy it and if it's heavily posted donate it somewhere.

After awhile you kind of get a feel for what will move quickly and what will sit on your shelf for a long time.

It really does get tricky. YA romances are often in high demand but that area is even more hit and miss.

When I was planning to go to the FOL sale, I would subscribe to the wanted email list for a week or two, and watch the Top 100 lists. I focused on a very small area of a genre or two. (For me, paranormal and erotica.)

Other areas with high demands are cookbooks and craft books. but again, very specific in what is in demand. I've had failures. Or found books that were too heavy to be worth it.

It took me a year before I felt correct in my guesses. A whole pile went back to the FOL sale.

Jennifer, if you're just looking to build up credits here is what I do.  I go to the library and browse through the FOL shelf and log onto a library computer and check what is for sale by FOL and what is WL on PBS.  Here are the ones I found are almost always WL; erotica (although not often found on FOL shelves), newer paranormals, older and newer fantasy, and the best and easiest credits seem to be anime/manga books.

My FOL shelf can have 20 of these on the shelf and I'd find 12 of them were WL books.  You just have to be careful about checking conditions on the animes, they're often water marked and food/drink stained.  My usual routine is to browse the FOL shelf for books that are in new/like new condition and check them against the WL and I usually get 2 or 4 each visit plus any animes.  I've found that other than the very newest releases very few romance books are WL for quick trade.

Why were told to delete this?  It's not like you were begging for WL books or asking for deals.  Just asking for which author's move quickly and are worth picking up if you see somewhere.  I don't see anything wrong with it.

My first reaction was Erotica.  Look at members WL in this board and that will tell you which ones.

FOL is Friends of the Library.   Many libraries have a non-profit volunteer group that sells books to raise money for their library.   Both retired library books and donated books.

This is a website that lists FOL stores and sales.  Booksale Finder
