Just a fun over-the-hump-day question: For those of us too lazy to use an actual bookmark, what do you use to mark your page in a book?

I usually grab the first thing handy. Right now, it's the perforated top taken from a tissue box. Before that, it was a store tag from an NFL t-shirt that I had bought. I've used everything from a folded post-it, old receipts, kleenex (unused, lol)....anything in front of me at the time.

I have about 100 actual book marks floating around the house. But they never seem to be handy when I need one.  I usually end up grabbing a coupon, receipt or piece of junk mail.

Kim's bookmarks! I still have the one with Christian Bale taking a shower (hot, hot!)

Usually if the cover of the book is too hot, then I have bookcover and those come with their own bookmarks. :)

Ever since I discovered them a few years ago, I exclusively use Magnetic Bookmarks.   They don't fall out of the book, and I can mark not only the last page I was reading, but the last lines.  I've got about twenty different ones, and switch them out with each book.

I only have a few bookmarks but sometimes I can't find them so I just grab a sticky note and use it to mark the page & line.

Yeah, I have a bunch of tasseled bookmarks but couldn't tell you where a single one of them is.

What are Kim's bookmarks?

Kim (rubberducky) usually includes homemade bookmarks of hot guys with any order from her bookshelf. Most of us just order from her to get the bookmarks, LOL!

A Girl Scouts USA membership card from about 4 yrs ago. It's a thin, flexible plastic and while I'm reading, slips easily between pages in another place in the book so it's at hand when I need it again.

Getting into the habit of keeping it somewhere in the book while I'm reading has saved it from becoming lost and forgotten.

Need to find out where I can get thin plastic cards and print pics on them. ;)

Usually the library card that comes with the book.  Or, a tissue or the magazine order postcard that are so annoying, but make good bookmarks.

However, if Kim has a couple of Hugh Jackman or  Daniel Craig  I may just have to switch.

Some of Kim's bookmarks.  A few from bookmooch.  Some that came with book orders.  I have about 20 floating around.

I think I still have a few of those stuffed in a pencil box here somewhere.  I haven't been making any new ones because printer ink is so outrageous & I've been doing everything in grayscale, but the next time I go by Staples I will pick some up and make some more.  I have a small stash of my own that I keep using - Hugh Jackman & Gerry Butler, of course - but they're starting to get a little creased & worn around the edges.  Probably all that drooling:P

Kim, that is so awesome of you! I'm gonna have to take a look at your bookshelf just to get myself one, lol.

Every visit to HBP usually nets me a few bookmarks, too, but they're too long for my mass markets. The tops and bottoms always get tattered. Hmm, if I were smart, I'd think to just cut them in half.....

my favorite is one of Kim's bookmarks, a black & white Russell Crowe.  :)

i've got probably 50+ of those freebie Borders bookmarks from next to the register scattered throughout the house so there's usually one handy.  if i grab a book to start away from home and forget to tuck in a bookmark, it's whatever piece of paper i can find, usually a receipt but i've used a fresh Kleenex at times.

*Sniff* I never got a Kim mantitty bookmark. Does everyone think I am a dude? Just to make it official: I AM A CHICK AND I LIKE PEEN AS MUCH AS THE NEXT GIRL!

I use business cards as bookmarks altho I never really run out. I once won a book from Jacquie D'Alessandro and she sent me a huge stack of bookmarks in promotion of an old bk that she wanted to get rid of. Also, the newstand I buy from is never out of the CNN Anderson Cooper bookmarks.

I get book marks with books I order new all the time.  Who ever packs the boxes got a little carried away last time.  Other wise I'll use what ever is flat and clean.

Ok, I found my secret stash, plus 3 sheets that I hadn't laminated yet.  I have (and this is ALL I have until I get some more ink:P): 1 Brendan Fraser in the cute little Poseidon costume (and OMG, what a bod on that dude!), 2 of the half nekkid cowboy with the tattoo on his back, 4 George Clooney, 2 Matthew Mcconaughey, 4 Hugh Jackman (only 1 shirtless:P), 2 Heath Ledger, 2 Brad Pitt, 1 Anonymous Chest Guy (with the open white shirt), 2 Colin Farrell (yes, he's shirtless), and 12 Gerry Butler; 1in the jeans & blue polo shirt, 2 of the shirtless one with him laying on his side, 1 by the mic stand in the white shirt, 1 in front of the brick wall background, and 7 of the assorted collages I made on the pink background.  If anybody ends up ordering from my shelf, you'll need to let me know which one you want or otherwise I'll just randomly pick one for you.  I can also stick these in an envelope & mail one to you 1st class if you really gotta have it:P

Oh... And no Gabriel Aubry yet, Sherri:P

okay - I'm gonna have to buddy up with Kim! I know he's a puppy, but Robert Pattinson is the one (so adorkable)!

I use a playing card from the Fancy Feast cat breeds collection. There's no way you can play with the cards, but can't seem to toss them either.

Hmm, I use an actual bookmark.  I have a gazillion of them (no Kim ones).  I don't usually use the tasseled ones, they come out of the book too easily plus my cat LOVES to run off with them and then I lose my place.

I was just thinking I came across a deck of Ellora's Cave playing cards when I was cleaning off my desk.  I'll have to break open the pack and start sending them out as bookmarks.

I use actual bookmarks too. My current one has stars and moons all over it. I have about 50 more scattered about though.

I have some different bookmarks that I use~  I really like the Magnetic ones also!

They are so handy at marking, not only your page..but the line ( or area ) that you are on.  Im also in the "bookmark train" here on pbs.

( I think if you check under games...you would find the "bookmark train".)  or, you can PM me~ and I will send you the name of the member

that organizes the bookmark train.

There are alot of talented members here at  PBS ~ that make alot of nice bookmarks!

My daughter makes the magnetic ones also.
