Currently reading Dark Parties by Sara Grant.  It's good, but I hope it picks up soon.

Just finished Give Up the Ghost by Megan Crewe.  It was just alright, was a quick read though.

I finished Fateful...I'm not usually a big fan of historical fiction but I liked this one.  It might even be my fav. historical fiction so far.  Starting Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday

I started Give Up the Ghost a while back and couldn't get into it so I never finished it.

I just read Bumped by Megan McCafferty - way different from Sloppy Firsts. Since it's a series I'm curious to see how the next book goes - I want to know more about Jondoe.

Britney...wasn't Bumped SOOOO different from the Jessica Darling series?  If someone had given it to me without an author's name on it, I would never have suspected it could be by McCafferty!

Reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini for the challenge - first book in a series.  Also reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman for the fantasy challenge.  Finished the unicorn series by Tanith Lee which has been on my shelf for a very long time:  Black Unicorn, Gold Unicorn and Red Unicorn.  Good YA series about magic,  adventure, growing up, love and following one's heart.  The values exhibited in the series are those we hope to instill in our children.

Tried to read Heist Society and just couldn't get into it.

I don't know what I'm reading next.  Kinda in a slump at the moment.

I finished my Stephanie Plum novel...it was predictable but I still loved it.  Back to YA now, with Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep.

Lori, I am in a reading slump too....  Took me forever to get through Instructions for a Broken Heart even though it was a pretty good book....  and it's taking me forever to read Wake Unto Me...  just not in the mood to pick them up....  I know it's just that I have an insane amount of stuff on my mind right now relating to our adoption.....

I'm in a huge slump right now, too.  In July, I only finished 2 books and have not finished one yet this month.  I usually finish 10-15 a month, so this is nuts.  I think I'm just not that into the books I'm trying to read, so I need to put them aside and try something else.  It's nuts.

I'm reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar children and it's pretty good so far.  I'm about half way through.

I didn't think that Bumped was that great. I'll read Thumped, but dystopian YA is not McCafferty's best fit, I don't think.

I'm reading the first book in the Shadow Children series, which seems more Middle Grades to me. I am surprised at how much I am enjoying it, though. A lot of middle grades stuff is hard to get through.

Rachael - I wonder if that's because Middle School itself is hard to get through.  :P

The Shadow Children books are definitely middle grade.

I really want to love Margaret Peterson Haddix's books but she has a lot of great ideas with poor execution IMO. I've still read most of them. (including the entire Shadow Children series.)

I picked up City of Fallen Angels today- can't wait to start it! Does anyone know if she's going to continue with the series? I know it was supposed to be a trilogy and this is book four....

Ha, Lori, very true. I love middle schoolers now that I am not one, but it is hard for me to find middle grades books that I like reading as opposed to trudging through so i can feel okay about having it in my classroom library. This is the first Haddix I have read and I thought it was above average for the age level, but not a YA book that holds up for adults in general.

Katie - Cassandra Clare signed on to make it a total of 6 books now. The next book will be The City of Lost Souls and book 6 will be The City of Heavenly Fire.
