I started Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce last night.  It's the second book about Beka Cooper, and I got past the first journal entry this round, so I might actually finish it.

I started Troy High yesterday.  It's not phenomenal, but it's kinda fun.  Figuring out which characters are the original Greek characters is kind of fun.  Between this and Percy Jackson, my 7th grade Greek history and myths class is coming in handy.

Catching Fire comes out today, so Troy High will be put on hold until I read that.

I started The Ask and the Answer (Book 2 in the Chaos Walking Series) by Patrick Ness. I loved The Knife of Never Letting Go, and so far, this is just as good.

Jacqueline, let me know when you're done with Catching Fire - I need to talk to someone about it!  I just started Part II, around page 160.

Britney - I'm reading Bloodhound too. It seems to be more sloppily put together than Terrier, like it didn't spend enough time in editing, but I like the story.

I finished Prophecy of the Sisters and I'm just not very happy with it. At first it was rushed, and then it seemed like not enough happened.

Now I'm reading Forest Born. I'm not really far enough to have an opinion. The writing style kind of annoys me, however.

I think I actually like Bloodhound better than I did Terrier.  At least Pounce left so I don't have to think about how much I hate that the stupid cat from the Alanna books just has to appear in the Beka series for no good reason.  (I didn't mind Faithful in Alanna, but I hate him now.)  And the journal entries aren't as annoying.  I wrote up exactly what I hated about Terrier (I read it two years ago and have no plans to reread) and I think I'm going to look for it so I can compare it to this one.

I just finished Bloodhound and I did like it better than Terrier.  For one thing, the journal entries didn't bother me as much and I was so glad that the cat disappeared for most of the book. :)  I really disliked Terrier because Tamora Pierce hadn't written in first-person before, and the journal entries were so long!  I noted that after 116 pages, it was still the second day Beka had written up in her journal.  I don't know of anyone with that much to say about their life in a journal.  The entries are still too long but not as noticeably so (but I think that, if Pierce did want to write in first-person, she could have just done it without writing a journal.  I don't really care that half the book was originally written as a cipher.  I noticed that the cipher wasn't evident to my eye, but some of Beka's misspellings when she tired were, which isn't very consistent).

I prefer Alanna with the purple eyes, though (even though Alanna is a total Mary Sue).  I think I am outgrowing Tamora Pierce's books.  I didn't like the last new one I read (the Circle of Magic book about Evvy.  I think I only finished it because Rosethorn was a character) and I didn't like the first in this series, and I hated Kel.  I loved the original Circle of Magic quartet, and the books about Alanna and Daine, probably because I read them in middle school before I developed a discerning eye for all that is wrong with the rest of them. :P

Hurry up, Jacqueline! :)

I just finished Catching Fire.  It was very very good, but not quite as good as The Hunger Games.  I am not sure I am okay with how this one ended, but I want to read the third book righ tthis minute!  Waiting a year is going to be haaaaaaaard.

I just finished Troy High.  It was cute.  The end was very rushed, which took away from the book.

This weekend I finished Suite Scarlett, which was okay.  There were parts I liked, but parts I really didn't like.  I just started Saving Juliet by Suzanne Selfors and I'm liking it so far.

I know I mentioned the Decatur Book Festival here a couple times and it was this weekend, so I thought I'd link to my blog about my weekend!

I finished Saving Juliet last night and wasn't a big fan.  I think I am going to start Frostbite (Vampire Academy, Bk 2) today.
