if you received a book. Marked it received and o.k then realized there ink scribbles on 5 pages from a child. I can read it and its not very distracting but I feel slightly cheated because now I don't feel like I could trade it to receive a credit back. I guess I'm not really losing much but part of me still feels a little cheated lol

On a side note I didn't notice the scribbles till i started reading it. At quick glance through it looked perfect. I think since its book 3 maybe I will pkg it as a freebie with book 4 to make it up to someone.  Thoughts?

If the book has a WIsh List, you can often offer it in the Book Bazaar for a credit. There seem to be lots of folks who won't mind taking a damaged book, even for a credit.

The other common way to get rid of non-wishlist unpostable books is to offer them as a freebie with an order from your shelf. You can advertise them in the Book Bazaar or in your signature.

I think there is a Game forum devoted to unpostables, too, but I'm not really familiar with that.

In the Games Forum there is The Damaged Books Virtual Box where we trade unpostables.

If there was a long WL for it-I would offer it in the Book Bazaar for a credit. You are allowed to ask for a credit for an unpostalbe WL book in the BB.  You cannot post it to WL and then ask the person if they still want the book. But you can advertise the book in the BB, stating what's wrong with it and either offer it as a freebie with an order (or even a 2 book order) from your shelf or for a credit.

I recently picked up what looked like a pristine copy of New Moon at a thrift store.  I flipped through it repeatedly and didn't notice anything. The cover and dust jacketed, spine and pages looked brand new-never read. So I flipped through it one last time and noticed on page-a tiny stain.  I mean tiny.  I couldn't find it again afterwards until I flipped through several more times. It looks like a drop of coffee landed near the book and then a tiny fragment of that drop landed on the page.  Well poo.  I offered it in the BB for a credit and it was grabbed within an hour.

Oh: I would not ask for a credit back from the sender at this point. But I might send a polite PM letting them know that I found the scribble marks when I was reading it and that they might want to inspect their books more carefully to ward off future complaints.  You can find out who sent it to you from your Transaction Archive.

Thankyou. Theres a long wait list for it. It's book 3 of the House of Night series and its called "Chosen".  If I hadn't swapped the rest of the series I wouldn't mind keeping it lol but seems funny to keep it when i don't have the rest! I will try the book bazzar. I wondered how that worked and what it was all about. Haven't had time to really go in the thread and check it all out. I have book 4 coming soon as well so maybe I could post them together in the book bazzar and find someone that doesnt mind and would be willing to take the damaged book in order to get the next two books all at once and get off the wait list! I will try that out once I get it read.

IIRC the Paranormal Discussion Forum has a thread to post wishlisted books.
