I ordered this book a couple weeks ago and I waited and I think the first person to send the book didn't do it in time so it went to the next person.I kept watching and it kept saying waiting for member then Saturday I got a notice from PBS that they had cancelled the order and put the book on my wish list.Well today the book came and the middle of the book had been wet the pages were ruffled but the rest of the book was ok.what should I do?

Were you charged a credit for it, or was it refunded when PBS cancelled the order?  Are you able to mark it received in your account?

Since it's unpostable, I would not contact the sender (even though you probably only have their mailing address anyway).  If you were charged a credit for it, mark it RWAP because of the wet, wavy pages (and hope to get the credit back).  If you want another copy of it, leave it on your wishlist and wait for it to come.

Since you received the book and have not requested another yet, you will need to mark the book received even though it came damaged. The only time you are allowed to not mark a book received is if the sender's error causes you to get 2 copies of the same book.  Go to your Transaction Archive and find the copy there that matches with the address it came from. Make sure to match up the sender in case there is more than one since sounds like it went through more than one requester. There will be a button asking if the book was received, click on that and you will be taken to the normal receiving process. Since it sounds like the book is damaged you can mark it RWAP and ask for your credit back if you want it.

If it was not accepted into the system, how can she mark it received?  I went to my Transaction Archive and have a book order that was cancelled.  It does not have a button next to it asking if it was received.  Am I missing something?  I've never had this happen but would like to be familiar with all aspects of what can be done via the system without having to contact support.  Just the other day I contacted support because I marked something RWAP that should not have been.  I asked them to change it.  I was informed that I could do that in my Transaction Archive.  Which is cool to me.  I don't want to have to contact support for something I can do myself.  It saves time that way :)

Thank you!

I had a book I requested not get sent on time and so the offer timed out, it says it was cancelled and there is a button saying "was this book recieved" next to it.  So if the book timed out it should be their BUT if the book was canceled by the member there will be no button. I have both kinds on my transaction page and thats what I noticed.

Kellie - If the other person actually saw your address, then you would have a button in your Transaction Archive that says "Was Book Received?" In your case, the other person never printed the wrapper, so the system knows there's no way she mailed the book, so you don't have the button.

In Barbara's case, one of the senders printed the wrapper but then she either cilcked the Cancel button or she just failed to come back and click the Book Has Been Mailed button, so Barbara should have the Was Book Received? button on the transaction.

If the sender cancelled it, there should not be a button to mark it received from the transaction archive. I believe that only appears if the transaction times out at some point in the process.

Thank you guys.  That is good to know.  Now, if that ever happens to me...I know what to do.

Kellie

Added:  I actually scrolled through my whole archive and found a button asking if the book was received.  In the details, it says the wrapper was printed.  Then cancelled by sender.  Good to know it's there :)

If the "canceled by sender" time is in the middle of the night, then it might be the PBS system canceling books that were not marked mailed.  That happens around 3 am.

Its possible that someone thought it was still readable but didnt want to take a credit for the damage and just sent it as a gift.  Just an idea and I like to think that there are nice people out there like that lol.
