I received this book wrapped in bubblewrap.  I thought....this book is going to be in good condition.   But, once I got the bubblewrap off, the book has staining.  It looks worse than in the picture.  Would you RWAP or not?

I can't view your photo. But, if the book is stained, it's a rwap.

Overall Condition:

  • No damage at all from water or other liquid
  • Not soiled
  • No stains (exception for cookbooks--see below)
  • No mold
  • no highlighting, underlining or writing on text pages (exception for Textbooks/Workbooks and travel guidebooks --see below)

I can't see the photo either, but what Lisa said.  Stained is an RWAP, with or without bubble wrap.

I don't know what happened with the pic.  It was there.  Hmmm.  Anyway, thanks for the comments.  I will not repost the book, so I didn't want to spend a credit, and not be able to repost.

I also picked up the word 'stained' in your description.  Stains are specifically mentioned as unpostable in the guidelines (as posted above).  Stickers, sticker adhesive, etc...do not make a book unpostable.  Pen markings on the page edges, covers, or title page are postable.  Stains to the cover or text pages are unpostable.

I got an answer back after marking the book RWAP.  He said that he received the book that way, and there was a black stencil check mark on the top.  But, there is no check mark.  Just a whole lot of black smearing everywhere.

'I received it that way' does not make a book postable...there is no Grandfather Clause at PBS.

Lisa, if this was something on the cover, then it may be removable with something like Goo Gone.  If he said there was a check mark and it was wrapped in bubble wrap, it's possible that there was some type of marker that smeared with heat/humidity.  Marks on the cover do not make a book unpostable, even if you cannot get it off.  That is not the same as a stain that was made from food or a liquid, and if it's not on the pages (I can't tell since I can't see your picture) then it's postable.

It was not on the cover. It was on the top of the pages, then smeared down into about 20 of the pages.

Then yeah, I'd say unpostable then.
