I've read pretty eclectically about ole' Jack, but want to read more.  What's the best book about Jack the Ripper?

The Patricia Cornwell book is pretty good. It's called: Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper - Case Closed

Of me that is 'The Complete Jack the Ripper' by Donald Rumbelow. It was first published in 1975 and has been in reprint ever since. I didn't like Cornwell's book at all. Here's an interesting link. http://www.casebook.org/dissertations/dst-pamandsickert.html

Cornwell's book was an easy read, but self-serving.   She basically drew her own conclusions then collected evidence to support her theory.  But it was an quick and mostly interesting read.

I haven't read the book, but I did go on a sinister London tour and a particular book was mentioned as being the most authentic.  It is called Jack the Ripper: the final solution by Stephen Knight.  If you read it, let me know what you think.

The Cornwell book was pretty good. A very easy read, but it was definitely written in the style of her novels. If you are looking to be entertained more than educated, then it's the book to read.
