Every year I read to my kids The Story of Santa Claus by Scribbler Elf. Other than the copyright page, there is no other author or illustrator listed then the elves from the North Pole. It walks you through the "true" history of Santa Clause and has beautiful pictures.

I don't have it on my shelf, but one that my parents read to me when I was little and I have read to my kids is Mr. Wiliby's Christmas Tree (not sure if I spelled Wiliby correctly).

Hello!  My favorite for my two boys when they were young was "The Night Before Christmas"  and I would sing the words.....they enjoyed my singing even if no one else did! :)  I always read from the Bible as well on Christmas Eve....was a tradition all through their childhood.  May God Bless You and Yours

This last Christmas 2011, I got for my great nephews The Night Before Christmas, recordable book. They loved it and it warmed my heart to see them play it over and over.

there is a really nice edition of " THE NUTCRACKER " . i did write a review about it . husband was reading it to granddaughter and was commenting on the illustrations . youngest daughter + granddaughter just move to CT and since the story wasnt done reading ... she took the book with her . it is well worth wishlisting this particular book , since the illustrations are just soo awesome . the chapters are short enough , that they wouldnt be too long for bedtime reading . and there are enough to last all through the holiday season .  there is also  the story "the bird's christmas carol ' , which is a lovely story about sharing , but it is sad in the end .
