My RC:
Hello!  Please make sure when sending your book it meets PBS standards to post and:

Hardcover books are sent with the dust jacket.
Please no personal names on front or back cover of books (with the exception of a signed autograph by the author itself)
Books from a non-smoking home (unless you smoke outside and they do not smell).
Books are sent with an extra layer of protection underneath the wrapper (like plastic wrap) to protect from the weather.

Thank you very much! Feel free to note me with any clarification questions about my RC.

PM #1 from Sender:
Your order will wrapped and mailed Tuesday.
No dust cover - one small nick in back cover on the corner.
No marks inside or outside - very good condition. Non smoking household.
I hope it meets all your requirements.

My PM back:
I'm actually looking for the dusk jacket for this book.

PM #2 from Sender:
Looks like a dust jacket - actually printed high gloss board. Nice book - I never read it page for page. Let me know if you still want it. Ready to mail.
I wonder if a person could photo copy the cover on high gloss paper and make your own cover.. This book has a very colorful cover.
Sorry about not having what you wanted.

Sender says the book has no dusk cover in first PM but in second PM it has something that looks like a dust jacket? I'm not sure if sender is just trying to get me to say yes so she can get rid of the book?

sounds to me like she is saying it doesn't have a dust jacket that it has the printing and such on the book itself and isn't intended to have a dust jacket.

I got the same impression.  It could be a hardcover book that never came with a dustjacket (some children's books come to mind like that) or could be that the cover art is painted on the boards of the cover themselves, like a turtleback binding maybe.

I agree with Christy.  The book probably was never intended to have a dust jacket.

Here's the book:

How to Say It: Choice Words, Phrases, Sentences, and Paragraphs for Every Situation
Author: Rosalie Maggio
ISBN-13: 9780134243672
ISBN-10: 0134243676
Book Type: Hardcover

Anyone have this book or seen it?

It doesn't look like the kind of book that comes with a dust jacket.

I think the sender means that the cover is illustrated to look like the book image and never came with a dust jacket. I have sent out a few of those and received some as well. I have an RC for dust jackets like you, but these books are fine with me anyway. They are like cookbooks which have illustrated covers with no dj.

Pictorial boards ... is the term used when the cover illustration is laminated onto the book covers itself.  Occasionally there is a jacket in addition (looks identical to the book covers) but often not.  What you are NOT getting in this instance is plain cloth boards.

Hi, my library has this book so I called and asked them if this book has a paper dust jacket or is a pictorial board.. BOTH editions 1990 and 2009 are pictorial boards so their will be no dust jacket to send.

Thanks for the info Ann!  Now, I know what to call them.  :)
