I just noticed the pink W's on my bookshelf.  In the odd event that I'm not the only one who hasn't already noticed this, when I hover over it, it says "This book is on another member's Wish List but the member does not currently have the balances to auto-request it.  The book will be offered to the member if he/she is not on vacation."

I don't understand the point of differentiating between that and a regular wish list W.  Won't they still have the standard amount of time to acquire the credit and request the book?  I noticed that some of these appear on books that have true wish lists, but others are on books that have copied available.

The answer is in another thread in this forum entitled 'Another Weird Glitch".

I still don't understand the reason for the differentiation.  Don't they still have the same 2 says to accept?  It doesn't impact the sender in any way, does it?

I think it's because the member has that book on autorequest, rather than regular request.

"I think it's because the member has that book on autorequest, rather than regular request."

The books that are on autorequest show up as WA on my bookshelf.

In followup, the original request (which was the pale pink W), rolled over over to the next person less than 24 hours of me posting it.  Now, whether that was because that person had less time to request because of lacking a credit or simply declined the offer, I don't know.

From the newsletter that was sent last week:

If the W is a PALE red, that indicates that the wish is not totally active -- that the wishing member has her account on hold (and the wish is not set to auto-request), OR she has her account on hold and the wish IS set to auto-request, but she hasn't the credits/funds to request it. When the Vacation Hold (or the individual Wish List Hold) is removed  or she gets credit/Swap Fees to request the book the Wish will become active and your book will be auto-requested or offered to her.

That makes it sound like your book could sit in limbo ad infinitum until they come back from vacation or get a credit.  Surely that's not the case.

I listed a WL book and on the book information page is a pale red W.    If that person is on hold why wont it go to the next person?

The other member still gets 48 hours from when you post the book to purchase credits or swaps as needed to accept the request. Previously all non-auto requests were shown as dark red, now the red Ws have been divided into dark red and light red. That's the only thing that's changed.

A clear explaination - Thank you Cathy. It would be on my wish  list as a  poster to post FIFO to the next lister on auto request. Seems like it would be easy for PBS to do this. They can now distinguish between types of non auto for potential wish list posters, so why not identify next wisher on auto with needed credit/swap?

The explanation is clear, but I remain confused. My TBR has several "pink" ones, but clicking on the books shows 0 wishers? If there are wishers, I would post it to my multiples list, if they don't currently have a credit or are on vacation, it's only "sort of" wishlisted, and if they get a credit 1 wisher shows up and it turns from pink to red?

This seems to be a change made to respond to a complaint I saw last week in the forums.  Some members are not wanting to send out WL books unless they have an auto-request wisher first in line.  That is, if the book can't be sent immediately, they don't want to post it.
